You all seem to be a bunch of walkers, so what’s the longest journey you’ve done on foot and why? Mine was many moons ago after an argument with the ex, at which point I stormed out of a bar on Burlington St. and started heading South, and didn’t stop – for reasons still unknown to me – till I ...

As a cyclist I have to agree with the last few sensible comments about striking a balance between not upsetting pedestrians and being killed. I would just like to add that for anyone doubting the threat of the motorised vehicle to a cyclists safety should try and make it round Vauxhall Cross on a busy moment. But...

I’ve recently discovered LCD Soundsystem and while listening to Tribulations on my way to work I found that it made a great ‘soundtrack’ to my walk. It just matched my pace of walking and the Bow Road (where I was walking) really well. So I now want to know if there are particular songs people l...

It was February and I felt the need to get energetic, fit and healthy. When a friend suggested the 3 Peaks Challenge (that’s Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden in 24 hours), I thought, “Yeah, that sounds like fun, why not?”. Well, now it’s just 3 months away and I don’t think walki...

The Olympic Legacy plan, announced today, promises free swimming for all by 2012 (well, hopes for, rather than promises) because that’s the activity most people would take up, if any. Read more here. Really? We’d play table tennis. Or do those dancing computer games. What about you? What’s yo...

Can anyone recommend something cultural for me to do on Saturday late afternoon/early evening in Zone 1? My husband and I were considering the boring old cinema, but there isn’t really anything that appeals to us at the moment. I thought it might be nice to see an exhibition, or do an organised walk, but seem ...

I am utterly shameless. Tomorrow I, and several fine knitting ladies, will be doing the 5km Race for Life in Battersea Park and goddammit we’ll be knitting as we go. It starts at 7pm. You can either: Come along to Battersea Park and cheer us on (hoping all the while for a knitting while walking-based acc...
