London Wedding Venues – yes…I have Googled this… got plenty of options floating around but wondered if anyone had been to any sort of event in London with the ‘wow’ factor – that doesn’t cost the earth and also means we can bring our own booze – ideally with little or ...

Does anyone actually like Walkabout pubs?

Last week someone mentioned a comedy gig at the Walkabout in Shepherd’s Bush. Sadly I won’t be making the gig. Now this is not because I get offended by Kevin ‘Bloody’ Wilson, but because I get offended by Walkabout Inns. The first (and last) time I was in a Walkabout Inn I went to the toilet...

Apart from the obvious ones like: BarFly, Dublin Castle etc. etc. I’m talking about the kinda place where you can watch an emerging band with a reasonable following. Not like the Dog & Duck in the back end of nowhere….! Zone 1-3 only please. Fanx.

Greetings all, I trust your Friday afternoons are progressing peacefully. A colleague has asked me, on behalf of his girlfriend, who asks on behalf of her employers, where companies can go in the West End (or City) to have a summer party. They have around 100 staff and are looking for somewhere with food and d...

Apologies if this has been posted before but when I tried to use the search facility I received the frankly worrying HTTP 500 internal server error. I’m looking into possible venues for a wedding reception that are a little different to your standard hall/rubbish DJ arrangement. I’ve had a quick goog...

My friend’s band has finally reached a giggable state and need to find places to play. I know plenty of venues for original bands but other than bog standard pubs I don’t really know of any decent venues looking for bands playing rock/metal covers. Any suggestions, recommendations for venues or good ...

Music venue wasteland that is East London

for some reason, East London is a desert wasteland when it comes to decent gig venues. The Hackney Empire does its best but tends to be focused on theatre. Whenever I want to see a band I have to trek over to the wilds of Sarf London or West London, and then getting home is a nightmare (track maintenance = closures ...

Hello there everyone. This Thursday sees the return of The Camden Crawl (http://www.thecamdencrawl.com/): 2 days of live music by (mostly) new bands in 15 venues across Camden. Needless to say I’m very excited. I’ve been doing a bit of internet research to find out who’s worth seeing and who isn...

The 2nd Saturday in February, 25 good-time gals need suggestions for a party destination in East/Central London. We’ll be dressed as hip-hop ladies from the 1980s, a la Salt n Pepa, in rolled up dungarees and baggy ts. Somewhere large enough to allow us to blend in would be ideal. And with music similar to the...

I’m due to be getting married in london next year and i’m struggling to find a good venue. i don’t want anything too stuffy or formal – and ideally something with lots of personality (that can hold a lot of people, ideally 150) and that allows you to let your hair down and have a good old fas...

Am off out for a night in and around Portobello, but west London is a mystery to me, I’ve only lived here 37 years. Once we’ve had our food and sunk a few beers where should we go next? Something musicy, clubby, late night pubby even. It’s a select gathering (anyone who responded to the emai...

I’ve been desperately searching for a venue for an event just can’t find the right type of place. My last hope is you, the good people of FCL. Please help me keep my job. I’m after a bar or a smartish pub somewhere located in the W1 area with either a separate bar of a function room that’s...
