Following on from itchy feet’s essential travel kit I’d like to ask the assembled panel about their hidden gem global hotspots. After years of dreaming I am finally taking the plunge at the ripe ol’ age of 34 and I’d be grateful for any must see recommendations in Thailand, Vietnam, Oz, NZ an...

So about the ONLY thing I can think of that’s cheap in London is flights. Signed up for those ryanair specials and I’ve booked myself a tue-wed trip to sardinia for only £25. I think I’m going to try and make a couple of day or 2-day trips every month. What do you FCLers think are the best spots...

Yes! I did it! I jacked in the job and bought an open ticket to central America for who knows how long with the option of working in diving if I get bored lazying around too much. Question… for those travellers out there, in hindsight to your last trip, what are some of the best gadgets (nothing too wanky) ...

I was absolutely disgusted when on either the 3rd or 4th January, I went to get on my usual bus- they the butt holes ripped me for £2! I was only going a couple of miles. I only had £3 in my pocket (i’m not ashamed to admit that it was a jobcentre/signing on trip- don’t mock me too much) so I was, natura...

Never try travelling in Twickenham on a match day....A lesson.

You’d think I would have learnt my lesson, having lived in twickenham since time began I was born. I made the fatal error of travelling from where I live through the Twickenham station to get to work, as the buses were still on divert at the time I was leaving. AKA. No buses that go near where you want unle...

There’s apparently been an incident and the tube is closed I think. I work near there, was supposed to be going over Clerkenwell way and then on up to Kilburn. I’m wondering whether it’s worth hanging on at the office for a bit and attempting to do so, or whether I should just cut my losses and he...

Had the pleasure of my lovely nephew’s company on Saturday, as i took him to the Tower of London. As he’s eight and walks or is driven to school he loves going on the tube, and at every stop he asked me, is this your favourite station? Which got me thinking, is there such a thing as a great tube station....

Does anyone else think the Oyster pre-pay rates are a bit of a swizz?

I mean if you use both buses and tubes on a given day, and in comparison with using a 1-day TravelCard? The upper caps seem to apply independently to the buses and then the tubes so I seem to fairly regularly rack up about £8 for a day’s zone 1/2 travel.. I would check the figures on the wonderful Oyster secti...

As well as informing everyone (if you don’t already know) that a tube strike starts on Sunday, I would like to ask people the best way to get about without the tube. Is it possible without disrupting your life too much?

I know someone who used to commute to London from Coventry every day, and someone else who had a 5 minute stroll to work (and still managed to be 30 mins late every day). So, like the scar comparison scene in Jaws, who has the worst daily journey to work?

Anyone else stuck at work due to the fire in Bermondsey? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6683641.stm Why is it that the BBC has a more up to date and informative travel information site than TFL?

Do all commutes in London take "about an hour"?

I’m not talking about getting from Covent Garden to Leicester Square, but have you noticed if you ask someone how long it takes them to get from Place A to Place B, they invariably say, “takes about an hour”. Talk to people in your office and ask someone how long it takes them to get into work &...

I’ve come to value the opinions on this site quite a lot, as you all seem to be savvy, well-adjusted, well-travelled and intelligent people (mostly!) What do you reckon about a feature on here which would allow people to ask for travel tips from the FCL intelligentsia? I wanted to ask if anyone had any must-se...

So I got the good news the other day that my best travel buddy has been dumped by his girlfriend and is so up for seeing a bit more of the world this summer – hurrah! However, he is quite keen on going to Australia because he has family there. Now, I tend to prefer somewhere slightly more exotic – bare...

I’m meant to be going on holiday for four or five days towards the end of June with three or four friends. We want somewhere that’s going to be hot, where there’s a good mix of stuff to do, good places to go out eating and drinking, and nice beaches/pools to lounge by and do nothing. I loved Mar...
