Did you ever spill a secret that you didn't know was secret?

I just ran into a situation at work that I accidently broadcast some information over group email that was meant to be top secret. I had no idea at the time that it was, but I was told very quickly after the announcement! Surely this is the fault of the person that gave me the top secret information without tell...

Share your tagging ideas, please

Hello all, So we’re sitting here in Fridaycities Towers, thinking about tags. We’ve been fascinated and amused by the tags members are using to tag themselves and also the myriad possibilities for making them work even better. For example, I had a thought yesterday that I might put, in my status bo...

Can I have your tags please?

I am new to the site and, after looking through a few profiles, realise that I need some cool tags. I understand the tags are mean to be a unifying link between two similar people so it seems silly just to make my own up and be the only one on here with them ...so… What tags do you have that you especia...

Any Tox07 graffiti up yet?

You’ve seen his mindless tags – Tox03, Tox04, Tox05, Tox06 – all over the rail network, especially in north-west London. But has anyone seen a Tox07 tag yet? I know, I know, it’s wanton vandalism, and dangerous too, as recent news has shown, but the sighting of a new tox tag is one of the ...

Suggestions for new auto-tag tricks

Posted by unknown about 1 year ago
Last active 9 months ago 28 responses

One of the nice side-effects of the new tag stuff is that it’s now much easier for us to make prefixed:tags do clever things. So if you click on something/someone tagged book:harry potter and the goblet of fire, then there’s an option to find it on Amazon, or if you click on someone who has tagged web:ww...

Ooh look! There’s a little arrow next to tags. Whatever could it mean? Click Ooh. So, yes, we’ve just launched a very cool new feature that makes tags about a zillion times more useful/usable. The ability to auto-add contextualised (or any) tags to your profile is particularly interesting as ...

Hello Class. Please remove your hoodies and leave rucksacks outside. Thank you. The topic today is graffiti. I am not talking about Banksy or any other “art”. I am speaking of tagging buildings with your initial or whatever else it is. This is a personal matter to me as I have lived in a new...

script timeout on pages with loads of tags

Posted by flippy about 1 year ago
Last active about 1 year ago 8 responses

This page causes IE7 to pop up the ‘scripts are taking an age to load – stop or carry on’ error. I’m guessing it’s side effect of the new tag arrow functionality. My suggestion would be to not show the tags on the page. I wanted a quick list of who’s signed up for the FCL meet,...

The FC search box

Some of this might help with the timeouts people are getting with popular tags or profiles with loads of tags. When searching in the search box, could you give a scoped search option so that we can just search in “Wanted” or whatever? Or would this be actually slower ‘cos you’d have to do...

Would anyone care to bemoan the lack of apostrophes in the tags?

I would. My hangout tags currently include the following: stinking fetid rehearsal rooms that were only using because theyre conveniently located Admittedly, I’m generally a bit of a pedant when it comes to grammar. Theyre instead of they’re is bad enough, but were instead of we’re just makes...

The new events tag is fabulous. I can now plan the rest of my life around FCL with ease. Hurrah! I did notice that the events page thingy (technical term) does not come up when I’m on the radar page though… Just pointing it out. runs away

I noticed recently I was the only person on the WHOLE SITE to have “moobs” as a tag; that is until someone registered an account under the name ‘Moobs’. What’s the most commonly used word that only returns one user/topic/whatever when searched for?

Check out the website for the first film. http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/ You can do a quiz to find out what your Daemon would be. I’m quite disappointed to find out that mine is a mouse. A MOUSE? Bah.

Seems to me that since LBL evolved into its current bells and whistles/singing and dancing incarnation, complete with strange currency, a couple of things have happened that I’m not too sure about. For one a cartel of uber subscribers dominate the site (you will find them in “people” each among at ...

Is it me, or has FCL slllooowwwed down. I thought it was the internet police at work making things more difficult for idling, but it seems I get a similar slowness at home too. Do I need to buy a new super-computer? Or does this place need a new web server? Please don’t tell me I’m alone…

Make tags smarter

I think that the matching between tags should be a bit cleverer. If you search on a tag book: 1984 you get a different set of results than if you search on book:1984 Can’t the search and matching functions ignore any spaces immediately after the colon? It would also be good if it would ignore “t...

Links in tags

Can we do something about the mess that most people’s profile tags are in? Pretty much none of the myspace/flickr/blogger/everything else tags I’ve seen actually link through properly. There can’t be that many variants people are putting in there (ie http://, no http://, etc).
