I’ve tried a couple of language group classes in London (in bothe German and Spanish) but find them quite frustrating – they tend to move at the pace of the slowest learner which means progress is slow. So I’m thinking of going for one-to-one classes, but I’m not really sure how to go abou...

I want to re-learn Spanish. I know basic words and phrases (Donde esta el baño?, Tengo hambre, Tu eres muy guapo etc) but it’s been an awfully long time since I took a course. What I want is a rapid review of the basics – not a straight beginners’ course. Any suggestions?

I’d like to nominate the Post Office on Farringdon Road with features such as the reassuringly long queues and unevolved decor. This is London as it was during one of the flattest decades of the century – anymore candidates?

Or it could just be an excuse to have rioja, smoke some Camel and watch one of those fruity films by Almodovar. Heck, it could even be a Friday Cities London excursion to a Friday Cities Barcelona or Madrid location, if such a group existed. Foreign exchange visits? It would be like one of those Eastenders episodes ...

Following on from Chez’s Spanish post, I thought I’d see if there were any people out there who would like to do some chatting in Italian. I’m certainly not fluent and haven’t let those sweet, melodic sounds trip off my tongue for a good ten years (now they thud, they falter, and clunk on to...
