New York is great, but have you seen the rats?

Just come back from first trip to New York and while I’m now sort of guiltily in love with that city (like having an affair behind my beloved London’s back) I have to say I thought the Subway was shocking. Ok, so it’s pretty efficient and runs all night – but my God, the smell, the drippin...

Where can I find some rats?

‘You’re never more than six feet away from a rat in London.’ That’s what they say. Well, I don’t believe them. I’ve been here most of my life and I’ve never seen a rat. Where the hell are they? The fact is, I need to get some photos of rats for (potentially) an album cove...

Has anyone else seen and been excited by the sand at the end of what appears to be a disused railway track in Moorgate station? It’s near when you get off the eastbound circle line, the next track along. It might not be disused. I’ve just never seen it used. It’s an ordinary train track but it come...

My mate does pest control for Lambeth. He told me that rats only live where people live. You are never more than ten foot away from a rat in central London. He also told me that a third of the world’s food supply is consumed or destroyed by rats. London is full of the nasty, horrible, evil little blighters and...

Does anyone remember an old(ish) book called ‘The Post Office Cat’? About a cat that lived on a farm and travelled on a milk cart into London and ended up getting a ‘job’ catching the mice that used to eat the parcels & goods within? I loved that book! It made me love London even more!

Do wheelie-bins make mice?

Being a respectable, middle-class young man, my house has never had rats or mice. Until a few days ago. I haven’t seen them myself, but I have two reports of mice skittling along the kitchen floor before hiding somewhere in the cellar. I dispatched a secret agent to the hardware store to get some mousetraps...

Qustion of the day: Who would live in a house like this?

So the BBC is selling Television Centre, its question-mark shaped west London base. That dripping sound you hear in the background is the sound of luxury flat developers salivating. But even if you can afford a converted TV studio, there are some pretty compelling reasons not to buy, according to our undercover Wh...

Mouse, mouse get out of my house!

I have a mouse running around my flat and whilst it is undeniably cute, it must leave or die. It’s not causing any harm but I don’t want it to multiply or spread disease. So far it has ignored the poison I have so helpfully provided and so I need some help in either getting rid of it humanely (prefer...
