Another (yawn) birthday coming up in a couple of months and I want to book a room in a pub or bar on a Friday or Saturday where I can bring my friends and my own music, vinyl, iPod, etc. I’ve been told about upstairs at the Old Queen’s Head on Essex Road in Islington. Anywhere else in the area of Shoredi...

My friends and I are all keen rugby fans, but we’re short of a pub for six nations games in the West End or West London that has a reliably good atmosphere for the games. We don’t want to drink a yard of ale and sing obscene songs with our trousers round our ankles, just have a couple of beers in a good ...

I like cricket. There, I’ve said it. Now that I’ve done the hard bit, I want to know how I can get to see the World Cup cricket matches that start in mid-March without having to give up work completely. They’re going to start around 14.00 (they’re in the West Indies) and I can wangle jobs ...

I’ve got friends visiting from Cornwall this weekend, the girls are going off to do beauty things, talk shite and drink champagne which means I’m leaving my other half to entertain the boys. Does anyone know a good, laid back pub that has live music on a Saturday afternoon? Somewhere a bit overtly ...

I don’t want to give Murdoch money by getting Sky but I would quite like to be able to watch the cricket world cup. Anywhere that has Sky shows football if it is on and my interest in the football season is effectively over as I support Arsenal. Does anyone know anywhere that will show the cricket over the ...

I’ve been playing guitar and singing for quite a while now and a couple of people have kindly said i’m ok at it. Asides from the odd drunken night in the local or a pissed up gathering at a friends house I dont actually play in front of people a lot and would like to give it a go. Can anyone recomm...

I’ve seen that the Castle Pub on Commercial Rd has one but that’s the only one that I’m now aware of. I used to enjoy smacking the ball around, as it were, but trying to find a pub with a machine in it is getting harder and harder. Any other watering holes in central(ish) London that have pinball?

I have to meet some people in Soho of an early evening. I have to record the conversation for work purposes, so anywhere with loud music or busy is out of the question. Any ideas people? A bar or café would be best. Was thinking of the Phoenix Theatre Bar or something. Is that noisy?

The other day I went into a pub in my speedos and a towel under my arm, the barman – looking rather puzzled – asked what i was doing, i said the sign on the window said ‘food, beer garden, pool’ The old ones are the best. Anyways, I’m off to play pool next week and I realised I don&...

Hi, Does anyone know a good pub or club where I, or a large group of people (10-20), can play darts? Where do all the professional darts players train? Does ANYWHERE have more than one dartboard? Ideally I’d like somewhere in central London. Thanks, skimbo

Ok I’ve been building lastrounds.co.uk for about 16months now, so I thought that I should launch it even though its slightly buggy. The aim of the Last Rounds Project is to promote safe and sensible drinking. It does this by not only listing pub opening times, but also local transport links – last tra...

I’m working on a project for my Arthurian Legends class. I have to collect/take pictures of 20 objects or places with a reference to King Arthur. So far I only have two… The Round Table pub and Merlin Theatre. If anyone knows of any brands (in the USA there is Grail Ale and King Arthur Flour) or pubs or ...

Why are young women so obsessed with getting a seat?

I’ve noticed this in two places I spend a lot of time in: the tube and in pubs. I first picked up the technique of hanging precariously from the pole in the centre of the seated section rather than more comfortably leaning against the glass divider from wondering why young women did it, then realising it wa...

I had the best of intentions to stay in every night this week, as I’ve had a few hectic weekends and I need to catch up on my sleep. I made it as far as Tuesday before I fell at the first hurdle, and agreed to go to the pub. Admittedly I only had two (large) glasses of wine, and we did decide to walk to a pub an h...

I have spent a few good afternoons on Wandsworth having a drink and possibly scorching the grass with one of those rubbish disposable jobs that cooks the ground, the charcoal and itself but not the BBQ chicken wings you forgot to pre-cook a bit. Frankly thats ok, but its really just a big traffic island isn’t ...

Has anyone else suffered a cycle-by bum slapping?

Walking back from the pub the other night a young man (I suspect late teen but he had a hoodie on and I couldn’t really tell as he sped away) cycled past me and slapped my bum as he went. Has anyone else experienced this? I was pretty outraged – although mostly because there was no one behind me who I co...
