Anyone know of a quirky London garden or park?

I’m currently pulling out my hair trying to find a gorgeous garden/woodland/park in London to shoot my short film in. I’m looking for some thing with a wild but offkey quality (tim burtonesque/wizard of ozlike). Wierdly trimmed shrubs, gnarly trees, violently colourful flowers, that sort of thing. We&...

Interesting jogging options in London?

Ladies and gents – fellow runners… I have just been for my usual perambulation around Tooting common of a weekend – the jogging justifies the subsequent stuffing of face with food and drink for the rest of the week.. As the novelty of the Common swiftly wears off, can anyone recommend any good,...

Good place for a kick of a ball with mates?

As soon as sunshine hits our fair city (and by sunshine, I mean something 20+), parks go bezerk. More power to you, Londoners, for getting amongst the sunshine, but the explosion in populations leaves everything crowded. We are a group of mates who’d like to meet up for a kick of the ball (with fairly varie...

I’m 99 per cent certain that I’m taking a flat on Archway Road in July, but I don’t know the area at all. A quick scout about today and it looked ok, but I need the collective Borg wisdom of FCL to tell me what’s good and what’s not. Where’s good to eat, drink, shops, gyms etc. An...

For various reasons, I’ve fed-up of London. But I don’t want to leave as I usually love living here. I can’t take any more time off work, but to try and feel more with it I’d like to spend some time at weekends just walking round parks, open spaces etc. I currently live near Finsbury Park and...

Who's in charge of closing the Lavender Gardens gate?

Nine nights out of ten the gates to the so called Lavender Gardens are left open. Lavender Gardens is a tiny area with room for a few cider drinkers and a climbing frame for inner city children who, poor things, will never make it to Legoland. But more importantly for me it links Clapham Junction station to Dorothy ...

So… it’s a beautiful day in London. Parks beckon, birds upgrade from a lurch to a hopeful chirp… I open the floor to whinging… Why is your job worse than everyone else’s, and what would you rather be doing? In my case, the fact that I work in Hendon and do tech support is quite enou...

I read somewhere that conkers are good for keeping moths away, and I have loads of the little buggers in my flat, munching my knitwear. So I need to know which park has the best the best, most conkeriferous horse chestnut trees in London, so I can collect lots. Any ideas?
