I’m about to buy a house in Camden that I’ve discovered to be the site of quite a gruesome Victorian murder and I have to say it’s perturbed me somewhat. Do any of your other readers live in potentially haunted houses? And does it put them off living there?

Now just bear with me. This was just a passing thought about illegal stuff and loopholes to get out of crimes and the like – is there a LEGAL way of assassinating someone?
I have no-one in mind (well, almost no-one), maybe that’ll change after the get together on the 11th, but if i did want to ‘...

So, some people I know are soon to depart to Venice on the Orient Express. I would like to buy them a little something for the trip since it’s a special occassion. I’m pretty sure they’ve both read Murder on the Orient Express and seen The Talented Mr Ripley, and there my inspiration runs dry. It...

Hey, who wants to see half a dozen photos of a very attractive woman?
Oh yeah, she was just brutally murdered.
The web monkeys over at thisislondon (London Lite and Evening Standard) think it’s somehow newsworthy to slap up not one, not two, not three four five but six photos of the woman who was murdered the ...

There’s an interesting website which combines the court records of the Old Bailey with historic maps of the time. You can search the site by a number of keywords, including street/area names. I particularly like the fact that in July 1726, a very appropriately named Margaret Clap “was indicted for keep...

I heard this from my friend’s sister yesterday, who said that it happened to her friend’s sister’s best friend. It seems this has happened to a lot of people’s friend’s sister’s best friends etc. So, did this ever really happen?

The dollar is now at a 26-year low against the pound, which makes your purchasing power even greater. In Feb, I came over with my daughter for a few days, and met a cab driver who spent three weeks in the Hamptons last year – the “tony” new york beach towns. He told us quite frankly that we were ...

Only in the first month of 2008 and another teenager along the road from my house lies dead on a London street. This is clearly likely to be a spiraling trend of teenagers being murdered on London streets this year. So I guess that leaves us with two options: Either 1. Leave it as it is, and say that’s just ho...

The cause of the explosion that ripped apart a Victorian terrace in Stanley Road, south Harrow, on Wednesday continues to baffle the authorities. The body of a man who died has been removed, and with no trace of a gas leak thus far discovered, police are now investigating whether the blast was detonated deliberately in a quite brazen, albeit successful, act of murder. Reading about this made me think.
And I didn’t just think about how weird you’d have to be to order the last meal of a death row prisoner and eat it whilst watching their execution on DVD, although I did think about that for a bit and surmised that you’d have to be slightly unhinged.
I mainly...
