Where can I get my stationery fix?

Posted by plum about 1 year ago

I love stationery. Really, really love it. Blank sheets of paper and freshly-sharpened pencils give me a feeling of deep satisfaction. Treasury tags turn me on. The smell of ink makes me positively woozy, and I still haven’t quite got over the joy I felt at the purchase of a box of round paper clips in New York ...

What's your favourite shop?

As it says on the tin. What’s your favourite shop? And why? I like the pipe tobacconist in Holborn, becuase it smells of pipe tobacco and the people talk about shag all the time. I’ve never bought anything in there, which is probably why they successfully got an ASBO against me.

An observation about post boxes.

Post boxes eh? We love em don’t we? What with their other-worldliness and their permanence. I tell you what though, they’ve started to perplex me. Some post boxes have twin slots, which are quite often labelled. Now we all know about First and Second class, and that second class means you’re mail is more likely to b...

I’ve grown a beard over Christmas and – even as a fully-grown 41 year-old man – I’m really rather proud of this heroic act. I’ve had a frankly mixed reaction from people, with some saying it suits me [i.e. they always thought I was a twat and now I look like one], some that I look disti...

Mmmmmmmm. Dried meaty goodness. I bought some jerky the other day but it just didn’t measure up. Does anyone know of a shop selling good quality biltong around Kentish Town, Camden or, alternatively somewhere Central?

Leaving it a bit late, but I’m going to see Bjork in Hammersmith tonight and need to eat first but as far as I can remember from my infrequent trips to the H, there isn’t anywhere to eat. I went to see Rufus Wainwright there and had to have a subway because we couldn’t find anywhere else. Can a...

Yes, that’s right, 1000 kudos. It’s time people. Time your witty and insightful musings graced the virtual shelves of Amazon.com once again. I’ve been hard at work compiling the best offerings of the past year. There have been laughs, there have been tears, there have been flounces, but we...
