My work has just moved from Mayfair to Old Street environs (Dufferin Street if specifics help!) and for some really quite strange reason that has prompted me to decide to join a gym.
SO!!! Question is, does anyone have any experiences of the (seemingly numerous) gyms around here. The Virgin Active place looks OK...

I’ve just read this article on the BBC. It was written over three weeks ago so I was wondering – has anybody heard anything else about mysterious goings on in the tombs under London Bridge – or is it (as I suspect) just a load of publicity for The London Experience?

I can’t count the number of times I’ve missed my last train at London Bridge (sort it out Southern trains!) but last Sunday I found myself in the familiar surroundings of the taxi rank at london bridge station. It was late, we were freezing, and as usual there was a long queue and no cabs.
Then, sudde...

Does anyone have any idea how you’d go about tracking down a bag that you left in a cab that you don’t know which company it was? The cab was a maroon 7-seater, new-looking that picked us up about 2am outside London Bridge station last Friday and took us to Bricklayer’s Roundabout. And yes, I was h...

At London Bridge station, the tannoy makes a variety of pointless and patronising announcements: if the floor’s wet be careful you don’t slip, there’s 24 hour CCTV “for the purposes of security and safety management” (whatever that is), don’t jump in front of trains because you mi...

On my daily morning commute I have to change from the Northern to the Jubilee at London Bridge: the latter, being a somewhat popular transport mode, is often busy when I need to get off the tube there. As such, commuters who wish to board the train crowd around the doors and leave barely enough space for one person ...

Has anyone else seen the big white wooden cat with pointy ears between waterloo east and London Bridge?
It’s been there a while and from Halloween there was a giant pumpkin on a table in front of it like some sort of offering. The pumpkin slowly disintegrated and has been replaced with a toilet with a statu...

Every day on my trudge across London Bridge I look down at the murky water of the Thames below and frown because the damn thing’s flowing in the wrong direction. Is this the first sign of a psychosis or has anyone else noticed how the Thames appears to
flow up stream? Please come to my rescue with a plausible ...

Walking across London Bridge of an evening, homeward-bound, I have noticed a tower which has a cube of light at the top of it – last night it was blue, sometimes it is pink, I am sure I have seen it green before…. Does anyone know what this building is, and if the colours mean anything? Oh and I know i...

I’ve been reading ‘London’ by Edward Rutherford, which follows fictional families throughout London’s history. And beside a slight loss of interest throughout the middle ages it’s a bloody good read. Living south of the river most of my life I’ve learnt loads about the old town fr...

Ack.. The ‘rentals are coming up to town on Sunday, and I’m charged with finding a venue.
Ideally around South Bank / London Bridge area, and for the sake of my father’s sanity (and by extension mine) the more of the below conditions we can fill the better… I was thinking of the ‘Ro...

I’m going to a fancy dress party tonight: the theme is Law & Order. So I want a bar to meet up in beforehand where I’m not likely to be beaten up in my Kinky WPC outfit! It needs to be in the Waterloo or London Bridge area… I wanted to go to Baltic but it shuts at 11pm! Any thoughts?

It’s this new bar on Borough High Street. It’s unlikely anyone’s been yet, as it only opened an hour and a half ago. Or if any of you have been, you’re most probably still there. Unless it’s really awful. Is it?

Hi. I am looking for suggestions for a Sunday lunch venue in the region of London Bridge. It is for a group of around 15 people, and am looking for somewhere relaxed like a pub/gastropub. No where too expensive, or that will be showing sport…
Any suggestions?
Thanks

In the quest for local kudos, organisational dynamism and staff motivation making humdrum local business improvement initiatives sound sexy is all important. The London Bridge Business Improvement District Company decided they had a crap name so, inspired by the spirit and energy of amusing films by the makers of South Park and general corporate Americanisms they’ve rebranded as Team London Bridge. Restaurants around London Bridge which will make the person you are taking there go:
“Oooo, look at the view.”
or
“Good lord, that was the finest grub I have ever eaten.”
or
“How the hell do they do that with cheese?”
or
“Is that a monkey?!”
Please.
