The next time you are stuck in a sodding traffic jam – think yourselves bloody fortunate. I live in Bangkok and the other day at the Lad Prao intersection I had to wait one hour and 58 minutes for the sodding lights to change! Red Ken – not bad for a commie bastard. JT

I understand the basics of why, when you are travelling on the Tube or the District/Circle/Met line, the lights will suddenly go on and then off. It’s presumably because the circuit breaks and they don’t have electricity going to them. But I don’t understand exactly why this happens. Are there...

Whilst we’re on the subject of cyclists’ safety – why do so many cyclists refuse to put lights on their bikes at night? i frequently drive around London and am amazed at how few cyclists there are that are clearly identifiable at night. Surely the cost is worth it? And you are probably not going to...

Walking across London Bridge of an evening, homeward-bound, I have noticed a tower which has a cube of light at the top of it – last night it was blue, sometimes it is pink, I am sure I have seen it green before…. Does anyone know what this building is, and if the colours mean anything? Oh and I know i...

On my way back home from work there are about ten shops (there are actually four but ten sounds far more dramatic) all with lights blazing after closing time. Just thinking of crea...

Walking past the Old Bailey recently ahem I noticed that they’d knocked down a large building. Nothing exciting there, I here you say, but behind the building on a staircase about 30 feet up, there’s a sign that says “Ancient Lights”!? What’s that all about then?

Soooo eco-chums, there’s some kind effort to turn everything off tomorrow night. Not sure if anyone has already brought it to your attention, and since the search function seems to cause havoc with my ‘puter I’ve not tried searching. Anyway here it is: http://www.lightsoutlondon.com/home.asp ...

Hi all, Well it seems the beloved is having a bad week at work, he has just asked me to plan something ‘crazy’ for Friday… I’m all out of ideas – can anyone help? Does anyone know of an interesting restaurant? Something a bit weird. Or an odd event tomorrow night? We love food,...

It’s that time again for London to show off it’s green credentials by burning thousands of unnecessary light bulbs all night. Actually, they claim it’s eco-friendly lighting, and it’s quite nice to look at so fuck Mother Earth. The whining whore. Enjoy.
