How anonymous is an anonymous thread?

Posted by anonymous about 1 year ago
Last active 9 months ago 94 responses

The other day the hosepipe-bum-cleaning thread showed many of us the evil world of kudoing people to find out their deepest darkest secrets. So it got anonymous me wondering exactly how anonymous these anonymous threads are… Surely the FCL gods can see who posted them. Therefore when/if you decide to att...

What are your best bike dodges?

Posted by BoutrosBoutrosBoutros about 1 year ago

I am commuting by bike and becoming disconcerted by the so-called bike routes which seem to be taking me all round the houses, quite literally. I want your semi-legal shortcuts please. Not whole routes, just useful dodges. Especially if they’re on the way between Clerkenwell and Wimbledon.Once my review of the...

Which do you prefer getting - ticks, kudos or thumbs up?

Posted by BraveNewMalden about 1 year ago

I thought I was a simple thumbs-up man until I started receiving the odd tick here and there. Now I value them as much if not more. One day they might even challenge and overtake the once-mighty kudos as the major currency of approval. Where do you stand on the ticks/kudos/thumbs issue?

Share your tagging ideas, please

Hello all, So we’re sitting here in Fridaycities Towers, thinking about tags. We’ve been fascinated and amused by the tags members are using to tag themselves and also the myriad possibilities for making them work even better. For example, I had a thought yesterday that I might put, in my status bo...

Does anyone know of any good venues for a show?

I am helping to organise a pre-Edinburgh show to take place early July. I have a fairly solid shortlist but I’m not quite convinced I’ve found the right place yet. It needs to be fairly central, hold upwards of 200 people and have a bar. Are there any hidden/obvious gems out there I should check out? ...

Kudos for ideas for kudos

Posted by Chez about 1 year ago

Hey. You may or may not have noticed that I have suddenly inherited a skip full of kudos. I’m the treasurer and have been told to spend them on a competition. Have decided it should be a two-phased one: 10 kudos to the person who suggests the best competition 20 kudos for the winner of said competi...

Will you just lay here? Why do fools fall in love? What is he going to look like with a chimney on him? What is love? Why do I keep counting? So many questions. Shall I have some sugar in my coffee?

Right, so, Vouchers then

You may well have noticed that the front page now contains a section called ‘Latest Vouchers’. You might very well be asking yourself what that’s all about. Well I’ll tell you. When we were planning and plotting Fridaycities we knew three things: 1) noone likes to be advertised to, 2) p...

Newsletter and Kudos

Last active about 1 year ago 11 responses

Hello all, We seem to be having a few problems with the newsletter mailing system, meaning that quite a few of you haven’t received it this week. I’m just trying to get to the bottom of it now, but in the meantime I’ll try to get a downloadable version up in the next hour or so. Sorry. Oh, an...

How can we refer to members of Fridaycities?

Posted by pond about 1 year ago

Subscribers to London by London became, over time, ‘LbLers’. And that worked like a dream. So you would think that members of Fridaycities London should be ‘FCLers’, but somehow that sucks the fat one. So, Fridaycities people, what are you? Any suggestions for snappy names for members of the Fridaycities commu...

Gettin down with the kudos

I’m one for purging emails rashly and quickly, and so although kudos were explained in an early message from LBL I can’t find any info about them now. I seem to have some, some of the people I click on have loads (jealous). But what do they do and how can I use them? Or is it a sort of online LBL good...

About six months ago, when Fridaycities was just a twinkle, Paul was asking for suggestions for the name of the a London-based currency. My suggestion was the Stephen Pound. Whilst this is obviously slightly shit, I maintain it’s got one up on Kudos. So – nice Londoners – let’s decide o...

How do I get kudos?

Hello. Not really sure where else to post this (should we have a “misc” section – you could put all your nice adminny type announcements in there, for example) – but I’m currently looking forlornly at a kudos that’s barely in double figures. I can see people with several hundred o...

Are you posting topics just to get Kudos?

Posted by AdrianCooper about 1 year ago

It seems that some people have a lot of kudos because they post every single thought that they have had that day as a question. Do we approve of this or do we think that it’s a conniving, underhand way to look more popular than other people? Discuss.

Dear Friday Cities People Who Are In Charge, This morning when I was walking to work I had a revelation. Just off Chandos Place I passed a bar called Kudos. Can we spend our points in there? Please do advise. Don’t want to risk arrest or increase eligibility for a free straight jacket. Am I just a buddin...

Hello Fridaycities lovelies- so, is this is what Kudos is for! Great idea! We can finally use it to get things we actually want! As per the other post, I was beginning to think it was an ego type thing- but its not! Good job FC!

The humble kudo. What are they for? It is one of the great mysteries of the modern age. Well ok they are for vouchers (and some bright shiny thing that the FCL gods have yet to spring on us apparently). Anyway my point is that I know you get kudos for a new post, posting with a location and joining new people ...
