Ok, I have to join the gym. These love handles aren’t getting any smaller and thanks to Mr Cadbury and his irresistable Creme Eggs I’ve piled on the pounds since xmas. So all you Londonites… where do you recommend? I would prefer somewhere I could preview/trial before handing out my hard earned ...

My work has just moved from Mayfair to Old Street environs (Dufferin Street if specifics help!) and for some really quite strange reason that has prompted me to decide to join a gym. SO!!! Question is, does anyone have any experiences of the (seemingly numerous) gyms around here. The Virgin Active place looks OK...

Yes, my work has decided to move from Soho to be a primary coloniser of Kings Cross – probably Regent’s Quarter – in the coming months. To ease the pain of moving, who can recommend some top things and places to go in and around this “up and coming creative mecca”? Bars, restaurants, sa...

Can anyone recommend a female friendly kick boxing class conducted on week nights in central/South London? I have been attending the one at Oval gym run by the excellent, if terrifying Darren, but it’s not very geographically suitable convenient for my future partner in violence who wishes to take up the sport...

Since quitting my over priced gym, I’ve been looking into starting a dance class to keep the joint moving and stay fit. I really love 50s music and always feel like a spare part when i go to clubs and everyone is jiving away. Does anyone know of any beginners classes in jive or similar dance? Would love to hea...

And, more specifically, does anyone play badminton at the Sobell Centre? I’ve got a membership through work for the Aquaterra gyms in Islington, but so far have only ventured to the Cally Pool and the little gym there. I think I can book the courts for free, but does anyone know if it gets very busy? Al...

Today, I joined a gym. This is because: 1) I am a bit fat; so 2) My jeans don’t fit me; because 3) I would appear to be incapable of refusing offers of enormous glasses of wine/chocolate biscuits/general offers of food; and 4) All of the above If at the sodding gym I’m to ignore my protes...

I’ve joined a gym…In London…London Bridge to be precise. I know it’s a cliche straight after christmas but it’s not too loose weight (christmas illness did that for me), and it’s not really to get especially fit, though I do need help there. It’s mainly to do something po...

I’ve just signed up to this lottery funded initative to get more women to exercise. Basically if you are female, 16-24, don’t exercise much/at all and live in London then you can potentially sign up to their free 3000 gym spaces for 12 weeks. www.sweatinthecity.co.uk I don’t want to sound like I...
