(Can you) teach a man to fish...?

I’d like to spend time squidging maggots on hooks and watching a line dangle flaccidly in some softly flowing water. I’d like to fish. But I don’t know how, where, or whom to pay. Any piscine pointers would be gratefully received, thanks! London or for a weekend outside.

Where can I freshwater swim?

I went to Churchill’s house in Kent with my Mum a while ago. It was nice and National-trusty and my Mum enjoyed it and that. But what I thought was the dogs knackers was that Churchill had this pond/swimming pool in his garden. Apparently the clever thing about freshwater pools is that the water is filtered...

Ooh, just like a fish (or where can I buy a Lomo?)

Camera types, do you know of anywhere (either central, around Islington or near the city) that I can buy a Lomo? Specifically a Fisheye 2? I’d been thinking, and forgetting, about getting one for a while & on Sunday, while breakfasting in Peckham, I ventured into a bookshop conveniently located around t...

Have you ever bought fish from the Geordie guys?

Has anyone ever bought any fish off the Geordie guys who knock on your front door? Am never sure whether it’s a complete scam / waste of money or a cunning way to get super fresh fish for a fraction of the London price. Highbury Gal

Inspired by themanwhofellasleep and his kebab shop extolling, I have to riposte with a fish and chips-themed post. Because my own choice is not far from The Man’s Kebab Delight (in location or name). It’s Fryer’s Delight, Lordship Lane N22. It’s both a takeaway and eat in, in true seaside ...

Hi, I work in Soho at the bottom of Carnaby Street and am getting really peed off at going to the chip shop at the end of the market, they charge £1.40 for a handful of chips, I need to find another chip shop locally that I can walk to on my lunch, so far I have found nothing! Oh and please don’t recommend ...

I mean, where can I buy really good fish in London? I’ve got no idea, but I’ve decided to go on a fish-only diet, so I need to spice things up a bit. I can’t just be eating tinned tuna all the time. Is there a decent market somewhere, or what they used to call a fishmonger?

Would you rather be a big fish in a little pond or a little fish in a big pond? (This question has absolutely nothing to do with Graham Pond)

Take a look at this http://www.gumtree.com/london/55/9279455.html http://www.gumtree.com/london/98/9389398.html We saw this when we looking at Gumtree to see how much fish tanks sell. This upset my girlfriend so she has reported it to the RSPCA but it looks suspiciously like the work of a troll. Why wou...

Boris's fishy pretentions

Have just read that London mayor-hopeful Boris Johnson has revealed he’s inspired by the mayor in the film Jaws. He vociferously praises the screen character Mayor Vaughan’s laissez faire attitude to public safety thus: “A gigantic fish is eating all of the constituents and he decides to keep th...

I love fish. For dinner, to look at, to dive with, in tanks. The lot. I’d like to see some fish/sharks/coral etc. Is the London Aquarium the best place to go or is there somewhere better, within an easy train journey of London? Answers on a postcard.

Where’s the best place to go sea fishing around brighton? We have no car so the closer the better. Fishing from rocks rather than a pier is also preferable. Thanks and TTFN
