Does anyone know of a fun swing night?

Now it’s coming up to the festive season, it’s time to remind the other half how much I like him & treat him to a night out. My man is a massive fan of 50’s swing/soul music & I’d love to take him somewhere where we can have some good food while a band/pianist plays in the background....

Where can I get Moulin Rouge-style fancy dress?

I’m going to a Moulin Rouge themed ball, and would like to know where I can get some really nice costumes from. Google isn’t helping much, and I’d like something quite glitzy rather than a leotard and a ra-ra skirt. Showgirl outfits and proper can-can get-up is much more like it. Any ideas? West or...

I’m going to a party where I have to cunningly disguise myself as a London Underground station ..anyone got any notions / concepts / ideas…? Best suggestion so far is to buy a tall wig and go as High Barnet… though Surrey Quiche would also be good… Shelleuk

Yes I know that it’s not very original but I’ve got to go otherwise I’ll never get free accomodation in South Africa again! I’ve to get something sorted (costume and/or props) for tomorrow. I’ve also got to go to an engagement party beforehand so can’t look too ridiculous. Help...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6515477.stm It is an absolute FACT that the mere mention of the Z word makes me grin like a loon. This link caught my attention and I decided that if the Australians can do it then the British can do it. And better. Then I find out there’s already a Crawl of the Dead ...

As it’s my second-to-last Friday in the office tomorrow before I go and work for a London-based website, my colleagues have decided the theme for the day is I AM LONDON. We have to come to work as a London landmark (like the Time Out feature). Bear in mind I have less than 24 hours to sort this, can anyo...

I’m off to a fancy dress party on Saturday with the theme “Come as whatever you wanted to become” or something. Now I know FCL peeps are witty enough not to come up with obvious suggestions, I’m not really asking you to help me out here – the question is – what is the maddest fanc...

So there is a convention not to eavesdrop when MP’s are talking to constituents – and it’s been broken. Boohoo! There’s a far more serious convention that seems to be broken every day on the street of London and I mean the convention that says WALK ON THE EFFING LEFT! Okay, okay okay, at leas...

This is a London question, but I’ll confess it’s also a work-related question. I’ve been commissioned to write a piece about the backlash against department stores and bewildering choice and the idea that people want individual stores which concentrate on a single product, where staff know what the...

I am off to the white mischief night at the scala tomorrow night (http://www.whitemischief.info/) and I need to finish off my fancy dress. The theme is kind of victorian, steam punk, based on the novel Around the world in 80 days. I have a bowler hat, a victorian shirt, but am looking to get a waist coat/fob watch/c...

My boyfriend and I went to a fancy dress party recently, the theme was Alice In Wonderland. We decided to go as playing cards and made ourselves some fab outfits. Basically, they’re currently sitting in my hall gathering dust and I’m loathe to throw them away, we put so much effort into them! So, if...
