Anyone recommend a child friendly cafe/restaurant in South Kensington?

I have the pleasure of taking my two nephews (aged 2 and 6) to the Natural History Museum this Saturday and am completely stumped as to what to do with them food-wise. All the restaurants I’ve been to are good for taking someone on a date, but not really that family oriented. Any suggestions?

Where do the hip 1 year olds hang out?

Hello! A friend of mine is going to be in town in a couple of weeks with his one year old (child, that is) and it’s my job to look after them for a Saturday afternoon and I am at a loss. I tend to avoid child friendly places and am therefore ill equipped for this onerous task. My worry is that we’ll e...

My nearly-15-month-old son is in nursery five days a week and loves it, so much so that come the weekend and it’s time to hang with the old folks, he’s not that impressed. Does anybody have anything in the way of entertainment for a toddler in Islington that goes beyond the confines of the Essex Rd Giraf...

I’ve been given the task of finding something to keep my boss’ 5 yr old nephew occupied during the summer when he’ll be staying here in London. He’s English, but lives in Italy, semi-fluent in Italian. He’s precocious and the problem is not that he needs looking after, more that he n...

Has anyone got any practical advice for a mother who fears her kids being taken out of the country? Looking to help a friend who wants to avoid her three (sub-10yr olds) being whisked off to Morocco when she tells Dad she wants a legal separation. Bit heavy for a chat forum I know but if anyone’s been throug...

Why are tube and train travellers un-family friendly?

Myself and the missus work in town and normally drive with our three year old in her work (she’s a teacher so gets a parking space). While we’d love to be all environmentally friendly and not drive, we feel we have to because travelling with a kid on London’s public transport is a nightmare. When w...

How old should you be before getting on the bus, tube or train by yourself? I ask because yesterday, my lovely nephew, who’s eight, was put a bus home by his father as my sis couldn’t pick him up from school, as she’d been carted off to St. Georges a couple of hours earlier. The journey was on the ...

Hello dear Fridlers, Forgive me for I am sinning – I am clogging a work-avoidance website with worky things. I am on the hunt for grannies and grandparents who help out with the childcare of their children’s children – it’s for a newspaper story (Sunday Times). Ideally, they’d be ...

Hey LbL’ers! If you want to send a letter through the post without paying for a stamp, simply write the address on the envelope in fake children’s handwriting (or better still, get a real child to address the envelope for you). It’s perfectly legal by the way. If you’re sceptical, test this t...

Well, why not bring them along to Wimbledon to see Hillbilly Goats Gruff, the show in which I’m currently appearing? We’re playing at Wimbledon Studios from 31 Mar (this Saturday) to 3 April and we’re very good (says she, modestly). Come along and see how inventive you can be when we sing Old M...

I was very sad to see that I will be missing the Chap Olympics for what seems like the 70 millionth time before I remembered that the reason I will be missing it is because of lovely, lovely Latitude! Given the apparent success of the Glastonbury FCL meet-up when I was unfortunately on a train busy talking to th...

I’ve looked on beersintheevening.co.uk etc. for nice bars (anywhere within Zones 1 & 2) which allow kids in them. He’s 6 year old (always accompanied by adults in search of wine or beer) and tends to be well behaved so long as he’s got a diet coke or ice cream. Edinboro Castle is good but only ...

My daughter’s birthday is on Valentines Day which is really sweet but also a pain in the arse because everywhere seems to charge a premium for eating out on that night. We’re up in town on the 14th to see “Jump” and would like to go to have something to eat afterwards. It’s an afternoon...

North London rubbish collectors, Haringey Enterprise, have been ordered to remove any soft toys they may have strapped to the front of their trucks as they pose a risk to small children who might be drawn to said, abducted squishies and thereby get squishied themselves, we presume. Read More
