Does anyone live in a place where murders have been committed?

I’m about to buy a house in Camden that I’ve discovered to be the site of quite a gruesome Victorian murder and I have to say it’s perturbed me somewhat. Do any of your other readers live in potentially haunted houses? And does it put them off living there? Joe

Is there anything to do north of Camden?

Does anyone know of any interesting places, things to do, activites, north by north-west of Camden? I’ve spent much of my life living north of Camden, and am still puzzled as to why it seems to be the northern edge of anything decent going on in town - I mean, I know it’s all suburbs from there, but whil...

I’m meeting some pals in Camden later on but wanted to avoid the holiday scrum at the markets…. I wondered if anyone knew of anything interesting going on in that area today / this evening (Easter Monday!). Or even a couple of recommendations for nice cheap places to eat or good pubs off the beaten tr...

Hi All, I’ve got a bunch of friends coming to visit next saturday. As I’m new to London I haven’t got a clue to take them on a night out. We like pubs, indie music and clubs. Bit vague I know, but can anyone suggests a few good places thats good to go out? Cheers!

Is it just me or is this getting to ridiculous proportions now? My journey on the 24 into Westminster today was going fine until I hit Gower St – a car park at the best of times – but today took the proverbial – 40 minutes it took to get from one end to the other! Surely this can’t only b...

Why aren't there more police on night buses?

I don’t often write many bulletins on here, but after last night’s shenanigans I felt I had to air my views. I was traveling back on the 29 about ten o’clock last night when all hell broke loose. A rather well dressed girl got on looking a little tipsy and coked up she then proceeded in a tirade of...

Just moved into an awesome spacious place in Camden and I want something fun to put in it. I was thinking bar billiards / pinball, then remembered I don’t have all that much money. Any ideas along those lines but affordable…?

If you do, then let me recommend Warren Evans (http://www.warrenevans.com/). I went to the showroom at Camden (which is a buggar to find if you are driving) – lots of lovely, lovely beds and mattresses, great staff, really good value for money. I got a bed and mattress and I am so in love with them. Good fo...

So I’ve done it again. Panicked that it would sell out, and hurried to buy tickets for a gig months in advance. Then my cousin decides to go and get married the very day that Sonic Youth are playing in London… What can I do? Apart from being very happy for her, and booking a flight back home to go and b...

Does anyone know where the 50 horses trotting through the streets of Camden at 8am in the morning, come from? I have to know!

Do you hiss at women?

Posted by iris about 1 year ago

A friend of mine is confused about a certain phenomenon that happens to her late at night. She gets hissed at by men when walking down the street. Now, my friend is rather attractive, and we couldn’t decide whether it’s a propositional hiss or something more threatening. So far it’s happened mainly...

Hey there people, any of you (mostly) mystery faces going to the camden crawl this thursday/friday. If you is, doesn’t it look like an absolutely fantastic line up! Provided my ticket arrives (damn stupid delivery service) I will be there front row centre, probably with my boss thinking “I haven̵...

Hello there everyone. This Thursday sees the return of The Camden Crawl (http://www.thecamdencrawl.com/): 2 days of live music by (mostly) new bands in 15 venues across Camden. Needless to say I’m very excited. I’ve been doing a bit of internet research to find out who’s worth seeing and who isn...

If you are at a loose end this Friday, have an urge to see a band named after badly dubbed films, or simply wish to get another look at my fabulous headphones (that seems to imply more than it was meant to), then come and see Hong Kong Cinema at the Camden Barfly. You can see a video of their last gig at the Isl...

No rubbish telly or pub quizzes for you this Tuesday night. Scrimshire’s headlining the Jazz Café with his glorious ten-piece band that’ll make it feel as if the weekend’s come early. This is the second time he’ll be filling one of my favourite London venues with the loveliest, soulful,...

Chris Coltrane is running the last After School Comedy Club on Monday before he’s off to the stand up hellfest of Edinburgh. It’s only £5, there’s cake, colouring in and comedy. What more could you want on a damp Monday night in July? Oh, of course. There’s booze too. Let’s go. I sha...

I suppose, if you’ve not got Edinburgh plans in hand then you’re probably not a “fringe” person but for those of us too poor, wretched, busy or disorganised to get up to Scotland there’s a mini fringe happening on our scuzzy Camden doorstep. There’s a whole host of new plays, s...

Nicola Conte, the main man of Italian new wave Jazz Bossa Nova, returns to the Jazz Cafe for two exclusive shows with the backing of a full live band. Italian DJ/producer Nicola Conte’s loungey brand of acid jazz relies extensively on bossa nova, but is also heavily influenced by the swinging soundtracks of...

Carnival Of Souls at The Underworld

My brother Gronk is, quite possibly, the world’s worst publicist; however, to make up for this, he is a fine songwriter. Thus it is with great pleasure that I impart to you the news that his band, Carnival Of Souls, is playing the Camden Underworld (just opposite Camden Tube) on Friday 7th December. Doors o...
