Not so much what I know, but what I’d like to know. What is London’s oldest building? By London I mean within say the M25, and by building I mean four walls and a roof. I thought for many years it aws probably some part of Wlliam the Conquerer’s (or William the Bastard as his contemperies called hi...

On the corner of Crawthew Grove and Spur Road in Dulwich there is a building. It’s quite a small building and on the side it says Fdenberg [sic – lbl]. Anyone know what this is/was? There is nothing else on the building to give away what it is and google searches have proved fruitless. I look at this...

I can’t quite believe that this hasn’t been asked before (and I’ve looked so I’m pretty confident it hasn’t) but what are your favourite landmarks in London? I’m not really looking for the obvious ones that always get trotted out in lists like this such as Westminster Abbey or th...

Someone must know what this is? It is a smallish single storey building that appears to be built with stones. It has one small window (which seems to give a view to a kitchen and the rear end of a microwave) as well as a wheelchair sign indicating that there is an elevator if assistance is needed. Why is it there...

I was driving home back into London down the M4/A4 and realised how much I like the amazing glass Glaxo SmithKline building out to the west of the capital. It made me realise that there are some quite amazing modern buildings in London and that they aren’t all monstrosities and that old constructions don...

I’ve been reading about the QI building in Oxford – a place run by the people who produced the quiz show of the same name. It sounds really cool; a library, a late vodka bar and loads of other things designed to stimulate debate and enhance knowledge. But it’s in bloody Oxford. Does London have any...

I’ve noticed some large round concrete buildings, all very similar in appearance, in 3 different locations in London – there is one which is partly hidden by a large billboard on Tottenham Court Road about 400yards from Goodge Street tube by the Confetti Store, another one is off Tottenham Court Road on ...

Walking across London Bridge of an evening, homeward-bound, I have noticed a tower which has a cube of light at the top of it – last night it was blue, sometimes it is pink, I am sure I have seen it green before…. Does anyone know what this building is, and if the colours mean anything? Oh and I know i...

Just got my booklet today, and am happily highlighting all the interesting places I might want to visit. But there are so many, and time is so short! So my question, to those who have taken part before, is which buildings to you recommend? Which are the must sees? Which are miles from anywhere and just not worth...
