Most days when I go to catch the train at Blackfriars there is the most horrific smell as you approach the platforms. I thought it was the toilets but they are shut at the moment. Thames or a bin?

So, is it better to throw your apple core (or other biodegradable food waste) into the Thames (for the fish, seagulls etc) or should I keep it until I find a bin (contributing to landfill)? I’m walking over Blackfriar’s Bridge every day and want to know what people think is best. FireIce

Oil drilling in the Thames?

Is there really an oil rig parked up in the Thames just east of Blackfriars Bridge? What is it doing there? There are even men working on it, but they are a little too far away and I am a little too demure to bellow over the bridge at them and find out.
