Another (yawn) birthday coming up in a couple of months and I want to book a room in a pub or bar on a Friday or Saturday where I can bring my friends and my own music, vinyl, iPod, etc. I’ve been told about upstairs at the Old Queen’s Head on Essex Road in Islington. Anywhere else in the area of Shoredi...

Where can I watch rugby with my pants on?

My friends and I are all keen rugby fans, but we’re short of a pub for six nations games in the West End or West London that has a reliably good atmosphere for the games. We don’t want to drink a yard of ale and sing obscene songs with our trousers round our ankles, just have a couple of beers in a good ...

What is the name of the Wardour street bar I'm thinking of?

So, about a year ago I found myself in a bar on Wardour Street. I remember it was Wardour street because we went to The Ship beforehand and it was almost across the road. The bar itself was downstairs and it was rammed and hot and small. And there was a velvet rope outside. And Jodie Marsh was there, but that’...

Does anyone know anything different I can do in Soho tonight? Instead of the usual going to a bar and drinking I’d like to take my friend and do something a little different!
premiumPinball machines - are they now extinct in pubs?

I’ve seen that the Castle Pub on Commercial Rd has one but that’s the only one that I’m now aware of. I used to enjoy smacking the ball around, as it were, but trying to find a pub with a machine in it is getting harder and harder. Any other watering holes in central(ish) London that have pinball?

I have to meet some people in Soho of an early evening. I have to record the conversation for work purposes, so anywhere with loud music or busy is out of the question. Any ideas people? A bar or café would be best. Was thinking of the Phoenix Theatre Bar or something. Is that noisy?

Hi, For the FA Cup final in May, does anyone know of a pub which shows the game and is known to be a Chelsea UN-friendly place? Would be very great if anyone could come up with an idea or two. Thank you!

Yes, my work has decided to move from Soho to be a primary coloniser of Kings Cross – probably Regent’s Quarter – in the coming months. To ease the pain of moving, who can recommend some top things and places to go in and around this “up and coming creative mecca”? Bars, restaurants, sa...

In my wanders I’ve found another possible venue for get-togethers. It’s not huge and it’s a cellar bar, but it’s central and free Tues – Sat. The pub’s called the “Royal George” and it’s in Goslett Yard which is just off Charing Cross Road, just near the Astoria....

Where's London's QI building?

I’ve been reading about the QI building in Oxford – a place run by the people who produced the quiz show of the same name. It sounds really cool; a library, a late vodka bar and loads of other things designed to stimulate debate and enhance knowledge. But it’s in bloody Oxford. Does London have any...

Ok I’ve been building lastrounds.co.uk for about 16months now, so I thought that I should launch it even though its slightly buggy. The aim of the Last Rounds Project is to promote safe and sensible drinking. It does this by not only listing pub opening times, but also local transport links – last tra...

Can you stay in?

I had the best of intentions to stay in every night this week, as I’ve had a few hectic weekends and I need to catch up on my sleep. I made it as far as Tuesday before I fell at the first hurdle, and agreed to go to the pub. Admittedly I only had two (large) glasses of wine, and we did decide to walk to a pub an h...

I’d like to nominate the Post Office on Farringdon Road with features such as the reassuringly long queues and unevolved decor. This is London as it was during one of the flattest decades of the century – anymore candidates?

I may be imagining things but recently it seems most pubs now serve beer in the correctly branded glass – before it seemed any glass would do – what has changed here?

Hello FLers, You may have heard that The Friday Thing, our sister newsletter, is 5 years old. Awww! We’re very proud of her and wanted to do something to celebrate – which got us thinking. As we’re about to officially launch Fridaycities (just a baby still) we thought we could have a prelaunch/b...

My other half is turning a ripe old 26 this weekend and to celebrate we are having a dice day, which will involve all activities and places being decided on the roll of a dice. Here is what we intend to do. We just need six (or more) options for each dice side 1: Sport (to be played in a local park we have alr...

For some reason I feel like going to see a decent magic show. Nothing boring or traditional. Just some mind blowing card tricks and the like. Problem is I cannot find anywhere or place in town that puts on magic shows. I think that it would be a good laugh and it would be different than sitting in the pub all ni...
