Getting started with Kudocities
Anyone can join Kudocities and frankly, it couldn’t be easier to get started. In fact, it’s so easy that only a real ignoramus would be bothering to read these helpful (but really superfluous) hints at all.
So – read on, ignoramus!
Step One > Sign Up!
Once you’ve clicked the Register Now button, you’ll be asked to give us four pieces of information – user name, real name, email address and password. And with that, you’re in!
Step Two > Create Your Profile!
Your profile is what other Kudocities users see when they find you online. It includes standard features, such as your photo and a short paragraph about who you are (both optional), but also gives you the option to ‘tag’ yourself with keywords or short phrases that tell other people more about you. For instance, if you were Paris Hilton, you might tag yourself ‘rich, unattractive, pointless, supercilious'.
You can also tag your favourite things and specific interests in your tags. So Paris might also have the following tags: ‘film:bratz, hotel:paris hilton, car:limo, book:what’s a book? pet:diamond-encrusted rat on a piece of leather string’. You get the idea.
Step Three > Start Posting!
The whole point of Kudocities is for people to share information about the city they live in. So if you have a question, choose the Questions category, decide how many Kudos the best answer is worth and ask away. You might want to search our vast archives first however, to see if your question has already been asked. If you just want to share an event, opinion or something that’s happened to you, post it in the Observations and Events category. No Kudos required.
Step Four > Explore!
Kudocities is not only a minefield of indispensable information. There are also many other features which might interest you, including…
- Kudos: Kudos are the karmic currency of Kudocities – they can be given to people who supply the information you’re after, or simply those who make you laugh. They can be passed around on a whim or collected and traded out for goods and services.
- Premium Membership: For just £24 a year, you can become a Kudocities Premium Member. Premium Membership brings with it lots of power features including the ability to send private messages to other users…
- The Weekly Newsletter: The best of Kudocities, delivered to your inbox every Friday.
- The Radar: Our occasional blog of city news from round the world.
- Atom Feeds: from conversations to your messages, you can use our Atom feeds with an aggregator (also known as a newsreader, feed reader, or RSS/Atom reader) to receive alerts when things happen. Of course, you could just spend your entire time on Kudocities and then you wouldn't need alerting - but maybe you were out at a party. A Kudocities party, naturally.
