Why do the sloan express girls ruin it with their shoes?

I’ve just taken the sloan express in from Fulham Broadway to town. There are a lot of pretty girls on that train, they’ve taken the time to do their makup, chosen a nice outfit, done their hair and put on some nice perfume… but as my eyes scan down what do i see??? comfy silver summer shoes which (lets face it) are the closest thing to ironing board covers you can actually wear! Why bother going to all that trouble when your plates of meat look like something out of Robert Dyas?

This whole footwear thing keeps coming up, I worry about you. I recall the sandal-bashing Metro letter incident all too well…
Those little ballet shoe style are a bit silly, but only as silly as any latest shoe trend. Give it a year and people will be crowing about how godawful the shoes they had last summer were, without realising they are witless fashion victims.

The Sloane Express? The Chelsea Vomit Comet, you mean

What’s wrong with comfortable shoes? Maybe they change into killer heels once they hit the office. Maybe they’re just lesbians. I dunno.

You mean men don’t like women in flat shoes?
Fucking hell.
I’m going to rush home later to discard of my beloved ballet pumps and invest in some heels! I can’t be having this!
Because, as everyone knows, women only wear shoes that are impressive to men.
(shut up)

There’s nothing wrong with pumps. But Ugg boots…uggggg.

Maybe they wear them into work for public transport comfort ness (if thats a word) and at work have some sort of vampish shoes stowed under their desks : ) x

Acres – I’m sure they all look at you and think what a pinnacle of male sartorical elegance you are.

Who’s complaining about ALL flat shoes? He’s just saying those fashionable ones that look like ballet shoes that look like they’re covered in gold lame or that wierd heat proof fabric. Stupid shoes are just stupid. And regardless of why you wear them, they’re still stupid.
This is only an opinion…
...that I may later regret

Goodness – how dare these (otherwise) goddesses wear gasp comfortable shoes.
I know, move to Romford. Then you get the makeup/clothes/perfume/hair all done up nice like… AND you get stilettos.

Another grudge thread begins…

This is bollocks. Ballet pumps are comfortable shoes that are still smart enough for office wear. Heels can be fucking painful and make me walk waddle like a duck. My ballet pumps stay. I don’t pissing care if some man on the tube thinks they look like iron board covers. He is not wearing them. He is probably wearing bog standard loafers. Ooooh, dangerous. I have no interest in impressing him with my feet.

make me walk waddle like a duck
Carla. Please can you wear heels at the next FCL meet? I think that would amuse me.
Thanks.

hehe… I love it.
Wedges are a good compromise between style and comfort… not that anyone should feel any need to compromise anything ;)
I’ve seen some very nice metallic ballet pumps in my travels. It’s obviously one of those fash trends that women love to death but men find inexplicable, like high-waisted jeans and anything ever worn by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Fi – i live near Romford and there is no guarantee on all those : ) xxx
I love my MBT trainer things that i wear all day long and if the schpeeel is to be believed are also helping my muscles too.
Carla – i am with you FLATS TO STAY!!!
: ) x

I think men have a rubbish array of cloting options for going to work, basically which shirt and tie shall I wear today, tsk. Perhaps if it were within the company dress code I’d come to love ballet pumps too. Possibly in flame retardant gold lame.

Hmm, why do I have a little star by my name now?

Don’t worry Twiglet, I was being facetious! Mind you, there’s quite a bit of that in Walthamstow… :)
Actually I must say I’ve never worn ballet pumps. They look like they might be almost too flat to be comfy. I’m pretty basic on shoes: heeled boots for winter work and going out, flip flops for summer – slightly heeled flip flops if I have a meeting. Trainers for almost any other occasion.
I’m not really a shoe girl am I.

I was going to go into full on rant mode but Carla and Fi have said it for me.
I love my MBT trainer things
Me too. They are so ugly that they hurt my eyes, and if I have to stand up on the tube I wobble like a weeble, but I love them anyway.

Those MBT things look thoroughly odd eh? Like some sort of corrective shoe for malformed feet, lordy!

Fi – i guessed. the Stilettos would obv be white : ) x
I know what you mean about the flatness – i have a few pairs of pumps but they arent the ballet style ones – my boyf calls them Daps. very comfy.
Babb – hahaha – yup i know that feeling. grabbing at strangers on the tube to stop myself falling over – classic twiglet : ) xxx
