Where can we go for Thanksgiving?

Hello,

I can’t believe this hasn’t been asked before – but I’m trying to organise a meal out with a group of Americans around the Thanksgiving weekend (not sure how it ended up being me!). I know there are a few ex-pats on here so perhaps you have some suggestions:

Basically am looking somewhere with a vaguely American menu (bonus points for sweet potatos and pecan pie), around 30 quid a head. I’m trying to justify going for Hawksmoor, but I think it might be just above our price range.

Thanks for your help.

Oooh I have loads of information on this! I LOVE Thanksgiving!!

Mmm… pecan pie

Here’s a list of restaurants that do Thanksgiving Day meals in London… I would check online and make sure their menu is what you want… I checked last year, and a few places had some interesting items… items that are rarely seen on an American table. (Vegetables… yuck!)

Cactus Blue (www.cactusblue.co.uk)

Christopher’s – The American Bar & Grill (www.christophersgrill.com)

The Chesterfield Mayfair (www.chesterfieldmayfair.com/whats_on_mayfair)

The Conservatory ▪ Lanesborough Hotel

Maxwell’s Bar and Grill (www.maxwells.co.uk)

Missouri American Grill & Restaurant (www.missourigrill.com)

Sticky Fingers’ Café (www.stickyfingers.co.uk)

Tentazioni Restaurant (www.tentazioni.co.uk)

Villandry (www.villandry.com)

140 Park Lane Restaurant & Bar (www.140parklane.co.uk)

Hope that helps!!

I would have though Joe Allen would be doing it, but their website doesn’t say anything. Looks like Jenniefercairn is the mine of info on this one though, very impressive run down there!

Oh god, avoid Joe Allen like the plague! Bodean’s is sure to have a BBQ-style thanksgiving.

And Jennifercairn, will you be having turkey this Thanksgiving? Or how about a nice big cockeral?

Go to Bodeans. £20 a head. Pumpkin Pie. Chicken Gumbo. Cornbread Stuffing AND NFL games.

You know it makes sense…

Pumpkin Pie. Chicken Gumbo. Cornbread Stuffing AND NFL games

Gah why do they have to ruin it with some idiots chasing a funny-shaped ball around a field

(erm NFL is football isn’t it? Not basketball or rounders or whwtaever)

Morals

Yes ISD, the NFL is the National Football League. Although it isn’t football.

Yes, indeed, the other blonde American girl and I are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner. :)

And Bodeans is a great suggestion… also you could try Harlem on Westbourne Grove. I usually go there for American brunch on the weekends… mmm… pancakes… but I bet they’re bound to have something going on for Thanksgiving. Apparently they also do a fried chicken buffet on Mondays, but I haven’t tried that yet… mmm… fried chicken…

Ok, now I’m hungry.

I would say Cactus Blue would be a good option… have seen their menu this year and its pretty good. They are really good with groups as well…
