I love the Holly Bush pub in hampstead. Think Sunday afternoons with the papers and a nice big bottle of good red wine and some cosy company. It is the best pub I have found for that in North West London. Anybody got anymore classic old style pubs to recommend to me? Got to be old, full of character and laid back mix of people. Oh yes and the cosy factor needs to be high especially with it being winter again suddenly. Bring on the log fires…

Hmm The George IV on holmes road is pretty cosy especially in the winter. I dont think they have and roaring fires but its a nice, small, classic old style pub.

The Flask in Highgate – many is the Sunday afternoon I’ve wasted away in there.

Is the Holly Bush still good, then? I used to go there often, years ago, until I moved to the opposite side of London. Last time I ventured over, they seemed to have closed off the back room, which was disappointing.

The Stag on Fleet Road (as long as you like dogs!) and the Washington in Belsize Park (not that old but very cosy and lots of leather sofas and they don’t mind if you do yoga on the floor – until blood is spilled of course!). Ah yes, those were the days…

The Wrestlers, Highgate. One of the finest pubs in the world. Steels Bar on Haverstock Hill is cozy too.

Aston’s in Kensal Rise is quite good – it’s never rammed and there’s a garden that used to be a stable (and I think I can still smell the hay), plus in the winter they have comfy leather sofas and a roaring fire
