Those across the pond have given us a spit and polish overnight. We’re not yet without a few bugs and that, but what do you think?

It doesn’t look much different to me – have I missed anything? I fear change.

Tidier, so less busy. more space for news with smaller menus, will soon get used it it, much like we all did with the ‘new’ facebook….
I don’t fear change, as long as the change is needed, not just for the sake of change.

Sadly I cannot detect any changes, probably due to my unfamiliarity with the previous design. I should read it more but there is just SO MUCH TO READ.

Ooo – problems… teething problems I suspect.
1. Can’t submit comment – SQL error when clicking on Submit.
2. Click on ‘Contact Us’ – 404 error – page not found (contact.php).
3. Click on ‘email us’ does the Mailto thing and puts ‘admin(at)londonist.com into the To: field. – take it that this is anti spam protection?
used under Firefox and Safari.

So what have we got… recent pictures across the top? Like it. Bigger bolder subject link buttons beneath them? Nice but I have to admit I never use(d) them – latest articles or search box for me. Seems to remember my login now, which is handy (not that I really comment much). Slightly smarter, cleaner and leaner, so it gets a thumbs up from me.
Incidentally, as it’s still Flickr only, photo-wise, does anyone know if there’s an easy way to parcel photos across from a Picasa web album to a Flickr one? The community photos are one of my favourite things about Londonist, but as I horde all mine on Picasaweb (thanks to Google’s monopoly of Blogger etc) I’m ostracised from the pool… Obviously it’s fairly easy to set up a Yahoo account and just upload them all afresh to Flickr, but I’m loathe to create another webmail account just for that, and I can’t help but feel that there must be a simpler, more cunning way these days… maybe I’m expecting too much but fuck me, we put a man on the moon forty years ago, surely someone’s created a nifty little program that can act as a Flickr proxy for Picasa albums… (if not, I blame lawyers).

Yeah, thanks Cobo… it’s taking a couple of days to settle down and get everything right. I think we’re getting there though.
& thanks Eltanin! Good question about the picasa thingy. I’ll ask around our crew too.
