Waterloo - identifying nasty smells . . .

Sorry for introducing such an unpleasant topic, but has anyone else noticed the persistent smell of sick near the Bakerloo platforms at Waterloo? It never seems to go away! What on earth can be causing it? – I first noticed this phenomenon several years ago and it has not dissipated.

Yes, it’s been that way as long as I’ve lived in London (over ten years now). I’ve always assumed that it’s stagnant water somewhere, being (as the station is) so close to the river.
