Train companies have spammed thousands of commuters by text with news of rail fare increases.

‘Shrhldrs repo’d. Nd mr ££. Ur fare up. Soz m8’ was the message which greeted rail users across the country this morning after they’d got over their hangovers and before they’d bought their season tickets.

‘We wanted to communicate the increases in a way which shows we are in touch with modern society,’ said a Chiltern Rail spokesman. ‘And we didn’t have time to mug every commuter for their wallet and then spray ‘fuck you’ on their garden wall.’

Many recipients of the text were forced to ask hoodies in the street to translate the vowel-light message, leading to the biggest increase in middle- and working-class interaction since Stratford was chosen for the Olympic Games.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union has threatened strike action for no discernable reason.
