I’ve been walking like a constipated arthritic octagenarian this week, and resorted to Chiropractic treatment. Not only has it helped me enormously, but I have developed a huge crush on the (petite, blonde, American) doctor. She’s an angel. And I’ve stopped whimpering like a whipped dog now.
Anyway, I am now the greatest fan of Chiropractice in London town, and have managed to get hold of SIX vouchers offering 50 per cent off the first treatment – which is a consultation, and normally costs 40 quid.
If you have any sort of back problem, I’d recommend getting this lady and her mystical hands to sort you out.
More details of the place here: http://www.highgatechiropractic.com
Nearest tube is Highgate, then it’s a stroll down the hill…......
Contact me here if you want a voucher…...............

Chiropractors are osteopaths who didn’t study enough properly.

Whatever they may be, they sure as hell ain’t doctors, Willster.

Well a friendly chiropractor sorted out my back after a car smash that the hospital osteopath couldn’t.

Yep. Not doctors. Quackery, in my personal experience. But great that your back is feeling better!

I was training to be an osteopath many years ago. It was only because I got addicted to computers that I didn’t become on. I even had an invitation to join an existing practice where I – er – practiced my massage.
And as the osteopath whose practice it was used to say: “You go to a doctor for a remedy and a quack for the cure.”
Agox – you went to the wrong places. Unfortunately, anybody can call themselves an osteopath so you have to know exactly what certification to look for.

premiumWell, her business card says ’ Doctor’ on it. A Doctor of Chiropractic, maybe, but someone who’s clearly undergone some lengthy training, I reckon. The General Chiropractic Council seems to spend half its time fighting to get its practioners recognised….........
And she’s made me feel 110 per cent better. Why criticise? Blimey, you miserable fucks.

Christ – if someone can call themselves ‘doctor’ because they did a PhD in how ping-pong balls mate or whatever, why shouldn’t someone who generally goes through full medical training (5yrs) like at the MBNOA (which is where I would have gone) in Netherhall Gardens, NW3, get that epithet or title or whatever?
I’ll tell you – after seeing the doctor I did today, I’d put more faith in leeches and necromancy than her ‘considered’ opinion…

Hey now! I said I was pleased your back felt better! But that was your experience, and my experience is different. We’re different but equal.

Actually I found the answer myself on the GPC website FAQs:
“In the UK the courtesy title ‘Dr’ is used by medical doctors, dentists, vets and chiropractors. The title ‘Dr’ is not protected in law, and may be used by chiropractors providing they make it clear that
- they are registered chiropractors
- they are not registered medical practitioners”
I thought the Medical Act 1983 protected the use of the title, maybe it does, but it’s extended to cover chiropractors too. stands corrected I guess as long as it’s clear she’s a chiropractor it’s ok.
I wasn’t criticising your treatment, don’t get me wrong. My quack-dar goes off when someone starts calling themselves ‘doctor’ though (like Gillian McKeith). While we get a fair smattering of people coming into A&E with exacerbation of their back problems after seeing a bone-cracker, there are probably many more like you who do well. Conventional medicine certainly doesn’t hold many answers when it comes to back pain, so good for you if you’ve found summink that works.

I used to go there, it’s near the Winchester right? Nearer the bridge, on the same side.
Anyway. She was a brunette when I went! Very curious. What positions has she bent you into?

Ackshly I’d say that PhDs are more deserving of the title Dr than medical docs are. Medics after all have only passed a Bachleors degree, albeit 5-6 years. PhDs would have done a Bachelors, Masters and then full-on academic research.
The title Dr as a title for medics, was usurped legally only in the Medical Act 1858. Before then anyone could use it, but certainly the original wearers of the title were academics, not healthcare practitioners of whatever description.

premiumSFULG, I agree with everything you say. Hurrah. I read the GPC website before investing in the bone-cracking quakery. And the PhD point is true, too. And Gillian McKeith is a patronising, supercillious budgie-faced cunt. Potty, to become a chiro you have to do a four year degree, the same as an osteopath – so (politely), shut up. ISD – yes, that’s the place. She’s clearly taken a leaf from Savannah and JenniferCairns books, and realised blondes have more fun. Agox, thankyou. I have to go and walk around now, my fucking back is killing me.

Willster – do you think that having said back bounced about in a little VW Beetle over FA class roads in South America will cure any aches and pains?
Or will it be the alcohol that will do it??

See? The chiropractor was shit. Your back’s fucked again. Problem with Chiro’s is that they only concentrate on the spine itself and imagine that by manipulation of that they can cure all ills. An osteopath would have told you (politely) that you’re a fat bastard who should exercise more. Especially bendy exercises where you imagine that if you could only curve your spine a little more you could suck your own cock.
Posted over 2 years ago by pottytime

I’m a doctor. Who wants to do bendy exercises?

Osteopaths? Chiropractors?
You’re all shit!
MUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

SFULG – You think “real” doctors aren’t shit? After my experience today (and I won’t bore anyone with the details unless I start an anonymous thread) convinces me that qualifications on their own are meaningless. I know that’s probably stating the bleedin’ obvious but still. I’d never come across a doctor before (skip the euphemisms, please) who actually stuck to the 10 minute rule about seeing a patient. She should have had a fucking hour-glass (or 10 minute glass) so that at least I’d known how much time I had left.

...but back to your gripe: were you unhappy because she was inept or because she was punctual?
Posted over 2 years ago by SFULG
premiumPottytime, fuck right off. Once again, not very subtle irony has passed you by. I’m disappointed. There was never any claim that my treatment would cure all ills, but at the end of a week of treatment, I can walk again. Res ipsa loquitor, dear fellow.
