So I’ve done it again. Panicked that it would sell out, and hurried to buy tickets for a gig months in advance. Then my cousin decides to go and get married the very day that Sonic Youth are playing in London… What can I do? Apart from being very happy for her, and booking a flight back home to go and be her maid of honour. So I can’t make the gig. Would anyone be interested (or has a friend who is) in having my ticket? I mean, this is Sonic Youth performing Daydream Nation @ Roundhouse!! Date: Sat 1st Sep. Price: £ 26 (face value)

Should be a great show – the Don’t Look Back gigs usually are. When Mudhoney did Superfuzz Bigmuff last year the place went absolutely mental. Totally made me forget what an old git I usually am nowadays.

Ah ah going to gigs keeps you young! Never stop going (maybe try to avoid the old hippie sado look with the long greasy grey hair and the battered leather trousers and the killing b.o. coming off you!). And anyway, at least being a bit grown up means that you still manage to see good groups…what kids listen to nowadays sometimes frightens me – I was never into such shallow crap, not even at the age of 14.

Was thinking of going to Koko to see Slint perform Spiderland, but I’m not 100% convinced… is it supposed to be a great live performance?
