Anyone going to these concerts? As described on Londonist as “not very inspiring,” nonetheless Mogwai in surround sound will be ace. Yum yum.
I love some event gigs me. Remember the 4AD anniversary concerts? James Brown supporting the Chillis in Hyde Park? Any other memories?

I know my boss is on the Mogwai mailing list, found out first thing this morning and was buying tickets at about 9am

Wow – Mogwai would be ace. I saw them at Electric Picnic in Ireland last year and they tickled my pickle!
Best Somerset House gig I saw was Orbital a few years ago, depite the rain.

I’m going to see Mogwai! My friend got me a ticket as a surprise. They’re my favourite band live, and I’m so excited!

Mmm, mind-meltingly loud. I saw them at the ICA last year – bloomin’ wonderful.
I’m loving playing with these maps…

Got my ticket for Mogwai – due to events conspiring again and again against me it’ll be the first time I’ve seen them since they headlined the NME stage at Glastonbury however many years ago that was – my all-time favourite gig ever, ever. Very very excited about this one. Comes with free surround sound as well apparently. Ignore the grumpy Londonist folks. Buy your tickets pronto.

Mogwai rock! The last time I saw them, they were supporting The Cure in Hyde Park. That’d be in about 2001, I think. I took massive amounts of pharmaceuticals and ended up “conducting” Mogwai.
And they were responding, damn it, I’m sure of it!

Have been to a number of Somerset Gigs over the last 3 years and they’ve always been brilliant – probably one of the best venues for a gig in the country and have seen some great sets by artists such as; The Doves, Elbow, Starsailor, Goldfrapp, Royksopp and even Los Lobos!!!
Kasabian and Hot Chip will def be great gigs…........the Londonist obviously haven’t been to a Somerset Gig before…....

Devilskitchen: I ended up yelling ‘Mogwai Rock’ repeatedly the last time I saw them at Glastonbury – sorry if you were close by.

My mate got me a ticket to the Hot Chip gig this morning. Twenty five quid???! Bloody hell, it better not rain…

the Londonist obviously haven’t been to a Somerset Gig before
Maybe they have been and are baulking at the usual £3 for a bottle of Grolsch and iffy sound quality for the inflated ticket price, regardless of the lesser headliners over the whole schedule this year?

Mogwai’s most recent music, especially that Zidane soundtrack have been superb. The iffy sound IS an issue at S House, but the “vibe” can be great – Orchestra Baobab and the Afro Cuban Allstars show we went to a couple of years back was just wonderful. Snow Patrol less so. I reckon I’m up for the Mogs and the Chips, anyway.

I’ve never been to a concert there: I presume they do it in that big middle bit where the ice-rink goes. How many people ish do they fit in there?
Posted about 1 year ago by Simone

I went last year to see the Divine Comedy. Fantastic gig, but they’re one of the few bands I can think of who really fit the surroundings. Sound quality was a bit off, but as an event it was amazing. Bunging Nelly Furtado’s ‘Maneater’ in the middle of ‘Queen of the South’? Awesome. Audacious.
I’d say there must have been a thousand people there, mebbe?

For early info subscribe to the e-mail newsletter. Never been to a gig there but went to see 2 films there last summer, fantastic! Civilised, friendly, few beers, excellent way to spend an evening. Iechyd da.

Got my Mogwai tickets – yay!

I’d quite like to see Hot Chip but even with the added surroundings of Somerset House I don’t think they’ll be much of a spectacle live – great music though. Ditto the Roots.
I’m more excited about the Wireless Festival in June – Daft Punk!

I went to a couple of the ones last year. Our friends The Memory Band were great and so were the Afro Cuban Allstars and Orchestra Baobab.
Also we will be at Hot Chip.
