It’s a “lighting festival”. Whatever that means. Looks cool, though.

Until 16th February, there will be special illuminations at the Tower, London Bridge, HMS Belfast, Customs House, Hays Galleria, and other places along (and on) the river.

I’ll be checking it out this weekend. Anybody seen it yet?

I’ve not seen it myself yet, but there’s a nice photo of HMS Belfast on the Londonist site.

I’ll be going down to take some photos myself at some point over the weekend.

That’s a nice photo of HMS Belfast but I couldn’t help thinking the whole Switched On London thing was more concept rather than reality. Even half the items on the project list were concepts, not real life!

The picture on the Switched On London website had distinct beams of light coming from the guns on the Belfast. It’s a credit to your photo that they’re slightly visible but it never gets dark enough for the photoshopped concept to be visible – the street lamps are too bright.

Traitor’s Gate looks good in red – ‘nuff said.

But there was nothing like http://www.switchedonlondon.com/thamesSouth3.htm going on at all!

City Hall had the ramp lit up, but it was blue rather than orange. Nothing like http://www.switchedonlondon.com/cityhall3.htm though.

Could do better, I thought, and I hope that the Switched On London lot have another go soon and don’t just let their artists make it up in Photoshop.

Thanks.

Yeah, I was somewhat underwhelmed when I went down there – put me in mind of the “River Of Fire” at the millennium.
