A collection of raconteurs and reprobates gathered at Chandos, St Martin’s Lane for the first meeting of the FridayCities Writers’ Group. Having succeeded in not fighting or feuding, a second installment is scheduled for Wednesday 9th May (venue to be announced!)

The format is fairly simple – everyone tries to produce a short piece on a theme selected at the previous meeting, which they send to LitroK (litro.k@googlemail.com) a week before the next. She’ll then send the submissions out to the whole group.

On the night we’ll discuss the pieces (in a fair and constructive way), talk about projects we’re each currently working on and ask for advice on anything we’re struggling with.

The first meeting produced interesting debate about horror fiction, help with unfinished stories and some healthy banter.

The theme for the next piece of writing is “The Other”. It can be in any format and of any (reasonable length).

Let us consider that this post was written this morning at about 1.30am and I didn’t proof read it properly when I submitted it because I was trying to finish a magazine and….oh I have no excuses, I must throw myself on my sword in an act of ritual sacrifice.

That or I might just buy more pub snacks by way of penance at the next meeting.

My jib appears to have swollen nicely today. Thank you all. I would have share my jib more freely, but I’m still at point where meeting people that previously only existed as online personas with whom I had no other connection is slightly odd. But once I spoken to you more, rest assured that I shall jib so much that I may have to be stopped.

Yep – pens are lighter to lug around and the nib will cut pretty well if wielded correctly….oh no…i get it! You mean metaphorically…damn those metaphors.

The Brady Bunch would be alright but I was hoping for the Dirty Dozen instead.
