Hello

A scottish friend of mine is visiting our green and pleasant land. He likes football very much. He’s in London for the weekend, and is very keen to watch Scotland play Lithuania on Saturday, preferably surrounded by other drunk scotsmen, shouting and cackling as only the Scots can.

Does anyone know of any “Scottish” pubs in London?

The William Wallace in Marylebone used to be but is now called The Gunmaker or something silly so I’m not sure where its loyalties lie now. There are two Cock Taverns, one in Euston and one in Smithfield market that are home to horrid Celtic and Rangers fans respectively. Spent a very scary time watching Hibs beat Rangers a while ago in the Smithfield one, keeping very quiet while trying not to look smug. There’s also a Scottish pub in Kentish Town but I can’t remember its name.

ANY central London pub showing the Scotland game will have at least two Scots in it making themselves sound like a crowd. Those between Kings Cross and Euston attract actual Scot crowds. Scowds.

Euston Cock Tavern sounds like a winner to me. Thanks!!

Yes I could have just googled it, but google probably isn’t going to tell me which one is a Celtic pub, and which one is Rangers pub, or indeed any of the interesting stuff that makes Friday Cities worthwhile. But thanks for your help…

The Rob Roy near Paddington has taken over from the Wallace as the default boozer for the kilted jordes. Bit of a dive by all accounts, but de-rigeur for watching the fitba

The hobgoblin in Brixton has been taken over and turned into a scottish pub. It opens this weekend.

The Flying Scotsman – Kings Cross (Ha Ha HA!) well….. its a sawdust on the floor boozer where the strippers passs round a pint glass after their shows, quite a few scots frequent there. Don’t think it’ll be showing the footy though.

The Cock in Euston is 100% Celtic home of the No1 Celtic Euston Celtic Supporters Club. Up the Celts!!
