Question of the Day: everybody loves Abdullah. Or do they?

Further to today’s Radar post, what are your thoughts on the state visit of the King of Saudi Arabia? Are you really really pleased? Or would you like to see a small child halt the regal procession by jumping out in front of the gilded carriage, pointing a finger at the king and shouting, ‘But he hasn’t got any morals!’?

You know that scene in The Queen where she hops in the Land Rover and bombs down the road? Women can’t drive in Saudi Arabia.

They can’t drive round here too well, either.

That was a bit racist towards slanty-eyed people, BNM. I think you owe them and us an apology.

Perhaps, but only in the safety of a pedestrianised zone.

Maybe FCL should donate our Morals to the Saudi King. He could keep him as a pet.

I think the Queen can kind of do what she wants, but I don’t think our government should be entertaining him and shutting down half of London. Not sure who invited him though. Still I’m sure the Queen has paid for his bus fare and stuff.

If both countries had separated monarchies and governments then there wouldn’t be a problem innit.

I was thinking about this one. Feeling all outraged along the lines of “why does England enterain these rich shysters who have appalling human rights records and treat all women as second class citizens?”. But then again. That’s the answer. They’re rich and supply us with oil. And the UK government happy to be friends. And if I was that bothered.. why aren’t I complaining/demonstrating? I even went off into a little fantasy where I got locked-up for throwing things at the Saudi King and had to explain at my next job interview why I had a criminal record. Still didn’t get me off my arse to do anything though.
