Pub/Bar in Mayfair for pre meal work type drinks.

I need to find a pub where me and other people from work can meet for pre drinks before our Christmas work dinner thingy.

There only about 10 of us and we are going to Browns in mayfair (maddox st) so need somewhere close to there where we can reserve an area for about 4pm – on a thursday in early December.

Ideally I’m looking for somewhere of a good size which has some kind of private-ish space where the noise wont be too loud as my boss wants to do a mini presentation possibly…

Why don’t you just get to Browns early?

I haven’t been there for years so it’s probably changed a bit but there’s a Pitcher and Piano on Pollen Street, which is a bit like an alleyway that runs between Hanover St and Maddox St. They used to have an area with comfy settees that was a little bit separate from the main bar that I think you could reserve. It used to get very busy in there but at around 4 it shouldn’t be too bad.

There were a few other pubs along there as well, which were quite a bit smaller, but I can’t remember what any of those were called.

The pub opposite the P&P on Pollen Street was the Black Lion and French Horn, and was where I used to watch all the the Arsenal games overlooked by a picture of Queenie in an Arsenal shirt. It was great. Sigh. Sadly it has closed down now.

P&P not a bad shout, and they do reserve areas.
