Hi all,
Well, the beloved has just got a promotion and wants to take me out tonight somewhere “swish” and “posh”... any suggestions? Somewhere tasty would be good too…..
He works around Monument, I’ll be coming into London via Paddington, we’ll end up at home in Chiswick so… well that kinda covers a lot of ground :-)
Thanks all,
Amy

Ooo, men in tails, sounds interesting. I’m not a huge game fan myself but it does look fun…
Something I forgot to mention… the beloved is veggie today >>rolls eyes<<

You could try Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s.

Andrew Edmunds in Lexington St
oh hang on, swish and posh not romantic and cuddly. Sketch? Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Chez Bruce, Mirabelle, La Gavroche oh i dunno

Do you like curry? The Cinnamon Club in Westminster is nice, or the Painted Heron in Chelsea. Or veeraswamy in Regent St.
Can you tell I like curry?

This place looks awesome. Not been, but I plan too… very soon. They have one in Notting Hill and a new one just opened yesterday in Shoreditch so don’t know if either are good location wise for you… but it looks worth the travelling and aparently if you’re fans of champagne, these are the places to go :-)

premiumAll of these sound like they need booking – unless you have a reliable concierge, you’re probably buggered; especially on a friday night.

Whatever you do, DON’T eat at Beach Blanket Babylon – it’s a great bar but the food is mediocre at best and the service is shit….

Nice, posh places I have been to and know for sure that they are worth going to (my reviews are on welovelocal.com):
The Forge restaurant in Garrick Street, Soho – £50/head Bar Shu, Frith St, Soho – £45/head Moro, Exmouth Market, Clerkenwell – £60-70/head Nobu, Berkley Square, Mayfair £70/head (not reviewed but a real treat)
good luck!

Have you tried toptable.co.uk – they always are sending me loads of spam about all their mega mega offers…

Pied a Terre. If you can get a table. Spendy but worth it.

we went to asia de cuba (st Martins lane hotel) last night and the food was literally to die for – i don’t think i’ve ever eaten so much incredible scran (especially the Miso black cod) in all of my life

or the princess on willow street – the restaurant upstairs is lovely and they have a great wine list plus you shouldn’t have to book

Vivat Bacchus. There’s a Cheese Room.

We didn’t go anywhere spectacular in the end, but thanks for all the sugestions, we will work our way though them :-)
That night was bitterly cold, so we went o Zizzi’s, the resturant about 20 seconds from home and very warming it was too.
I will be checking out that indian place as soon as I can
Thanks all,
Amy
