Please help! Venue suggestions needed

I’ve been desperately searching for a venue for an event just can’t find the right type of place. My last hope is you, the good people of FCL. Please help me keep my job.

I’m after a bar or a smartish pub somewhere located in the W1 area with either a separate bar of a function room that’s available for private parties during the week. It needs to be able to seat up to around 30-40 people. Unfortunately it can’t just be a roped off section of the main bar, has to be totally private. It’s doesn’t have to be really trendy, just comfortable, ideally with its own bar.

In the past I’ve hired the Amber bar on Poland Street as this had a great little private basement. This is now closed for a refit.

Despite searching all the relevant bar type websites and googling until I’m blue in the finger I still can’t find anywhere that fits the bill.

I’m certain such a place must exist somewhere in central London. Any suggestions gratefully received. Please help!

Try Bar Lupo in Soho.

Or you can hire the upstairs at bertorelli opposite the Dog and Duck, on Frith Street.

Sorry if you’ve looked on here already, but there are so many venues that meet your criteria I thought I’d mention this:

Squaremeal does bars as well as restaurants and you can use their advanced search facility to narrow it down to certain postcode areas only and only those with private rooms that take more than 30 people in the restaurant search or a whole list of criteria in the venue search (http://www.squaremeal.co.uk/venues/london/). I’ve always found it very useful… hope it helps.

The bar in the basement of the St Moritz restaurant at 161 Wardour St is a great, odd little place. Possibly more of a low-key music venue than a meeting space, but worth knowing about. And it’s cheap.

I have hired out the upstairs bar at Jewel in Picadilly for around that number. There is a min bar spend of about £500 i think but check it out.

Upstairs at Bar Soho & downstairs at Lab Bar both on Old Compton St.

Upstairs at Polka (formerly Jamies) on Poland St opposite Amber
