The Friend at Hand is just behind Russell Square station and is a handy starting point. Well, handy for other places in the area. Not so handy if you’re heading for Deptford.

Lamb Conduit Street has The Lamb which is old and ok (food’s not the best or cheapest but nice atmosphere), and The Perseverance. There’s also Cigala for food or a Thai place (Thai Candle or something like that) further along, and a wine bar called Vats which I haven’t been to in years but still looks good.

Across Theobald’s Road on Red Lion Street there’s The Enterprise which also looks good plus some cheap Thai places and a pub on the end at the junction with Holborn which looks ok.

In summary, Lamb Conduit’s Street and Red Lion Street.

There’s also the Brunswick centre for various fooderies.

I’ve just discovered a bar on Earlham St that does an iced tea variation containing rum, vodka, gin and absinthe. That sounds quite pleasant. Detroit

What frightens me is that the majority if not all of the people who posted in that thread are now dormant, un-posting, ex-KFCLers. They would have fallen over long ago if they weren’t nailed to that thread. Is posting on this topic like watching The Ring ?
