Kudos! What are they for?!?

Dear Friday Cities People Who Are In Charge,
This morning when I was walking to work I had a revelation. Just off Chandos Place I passed a bar called Kudos. Can we spend our points in there? Please do advise. Don’t want to risk arrest or increase eligibility for a free straight jacket.
Am I just a budding schizophrenic spotting patterns where there are none? Please help. What are kudos points for?

I think it is just for the ‘Ego’ which is why I have got 0!! I am trying to get rid of them.
It would be good if we can spend our Kudos on a cocktail mind you :-)

Chez, is that the Kudos just down the road from Bar Ticks? Run by the Norwegian guy Thum Zuup?

Kudos wouldn’t necessarily be my first port of call – I think it’s the dancing transvestites in the summer that put me off.

I’ll accept anyone’s kudos donations. My ego is not up to much.

BraveNM, no idea. And Rambletripe, there were no visible trannies. Was very early in the day though.

I actually think I may be disappointed when kudos become “for” anything, I like the system of barter we’ve developed amongst ourselves with the useless little whatsits. And I’ve never been second to top in anything like this before so am enjoying the experience of perceived wealth that I’ll never feel in real life

It’s gold stars on a nursery wall, isn’t it…? “People like badges”. They just do.
Not that I disapprove. It’s quite a nice quick way of seeing who’s been around a bit, contributing and being generally witty.

I dunno, I guess if it spares the site filling up with “nice one”, “haha” and other affirmations it’s all well and good, but the contrary bastard in me can’t help but derive more pleasure from thumbs down than up, I’m finding myself angling for the disapproval sometimes.
And giving 10 out for starting threads just encourages superfluousness. Give 10 out for the first apposite response.

Spoke to soon, eh? :)

‘Ere Mockernee, calling this thread superflous?? ;) And to think I gave you a kudo. Shocking.

So now we know what Kudos are for – we can redeem them for gift vouchers! But am I alone in thinking that £10 voucher = 2,000 vouchers is a little steep! I mean, that’s twice as many as the most kudos-wealthy FCLer has! I’m sure you don’t want to be shelling out for loads of vouchers, but this is maybe a little extreme…

Aha Babybat, but that’s the good part! The promo is in partnership with Welovelocal.com who are giving a staggering 100 Kudos for every review you write on their site. 20 reviews (and they don’t have to be hugely long) = enough kudos for a ten quid voucher. And that’s before you add in your current Kudos balance. Kummon – it’s a piece of cake. We’ve also doubled the number you get for inviting new people to the site. Invite 10 and that’s another 100.

Pah.

I don’t understand why Pond was inviting everyone to join TrustedPlaces if you’re forming a partnership with what sounds like a competitor of theirs. Or why you keep on lusting after new members. What’s wrong with the ones you have? Is the spark not there any more?

Stop asking impertinent questions, BNM, and get on with writing lots of reviews and inviting lots of people like a good boy.
