I suppose this is an aside to the Ten Commandments, but, is it ever acceptable to ski for the tube?

Yes. I’m a huge advocate of slide-based transport.

An old flatmate did a lugeless luge down the escalators at London Bridge. Hit the No Smoking (or is it Keep to the Right?) sign at the bottom with the small of his back, span through 180 degrees and 8 years later he’s still got sciatica. Twat.

No. I dislike the wanker who did it. I blame 1) Jackass 2) Youtube 3) Banksy. To be fair, I blame Banksy for most things, from global warming to anti-semitism.
Tube journeys are bad enough without wankers skiing down the escalators.

only if you’ve got bond villains behind you, and a union jack hidden about your person

yes, if it’s at a quiet time of day and you’ve got a mate at the bottom stopping other people from using that escalator?

Depends if there’s a train at the platform.

I fell down that escalator (I may have had a couple of Ginger Ales beforehand). A livid bruise the size of Iceland immediately appeared on my lower back and posterior; Boyf, when faced with a choice of placatory/soothing words, said “It’s meant to be the longest escalator in Western Europe, you know”

I know Angel well, remember that for almost two weeks the escalators were out of action and climbing up all those steps daily meant I was worn out before starting work.
I then looked up alternative travel from Kings X to Angel and found that there is less distance between the stations on the surface than down at Kings X, tube then up at Angel !!

Now you don’t see that everyday (thankfully)
Prat. Should have used a snowboard. Far gnarlier.

Christ no. Snowboarders are idiots. He’d proabably have fallen half way down, sat down on his arse and then got confused as to whay he was going back up. Then fallen over again, as he’s going up a lift, and they all do. Always have.

I so want the Tate slides to be straightened out and installed at Angel. Instead it looks like they’re upgrading the adverts at the moment.

Fuck off. Snowboarding is where it’s at. Have you tried running from the filth in ski boots? Impossible, I tell you.

It becomes acceptable if you snap a few vertebrae

Only when they install escalators up the Alps.

Oh yes, I will gladly wait to continue my journey while some twat films himself for YouTube. Can’t he just thrown himself down a stairwell somewhere?

I saw the clip last night, no-one else using the escalator and the two onlookers at the bottom looked bemusedly delighted. His risk, a daft risk, but feck it, life’s too dull to be condemning anyone for following through a “I wonder what would happen if….” moment like that.

juvey- I’ll give you, snowboard boots are much easier to run in. Almost like they were made for the purpose of running away from the forces of righteous justice. What with the majority of snowboarders being criminal, lowlife scum, this would figure.
(despite my tender age, I don’t think there was anyone in Europe, let alone the UK, snowboarding when I started skiing).
And ianaitch- they held no-one up, what with the other up escalator and the down escalator not being used for skiing purposes and hence available for the safe passage of the few people traveling at the time it was filmed.
