And I was wondering if anybody has any exercise equipment laying about not being used that wants rid of it. I would really love to have a rower, but failing that a cross-trainer, exercise bike, anything really, seeing as I am now spending nearly 3 hours a day commuting and can’t be arsed to go to the gym of an evening. Please help, soon I wont be able to get though the door, they will have to take the side off the house to get me out, and that’s just going to be embarrasing.

the british heart foundation are recommending sex, if that’s any good

I’ve had the same problem, I stopped eating crisps and chocolate, and on the way home started walking between Monument and Tower Hill and getting off one stop before home and walking the rest. It really doesn’t take me much longer to get home, but the best thing is I miss the end of Eggheads which is good because I HATE that programme, they’re all so smug and jolly.

I had visible results in 1 week.

The riding a bike to work thing isn’t really going to work for me either I’m afraid, other than the fact that I probably wouldn’t last 10 minutes on London roads as a cyclist, I live in Forest Hill and work 11 hour days in Finchley. As healthy as it would be, it’s just not going to happen.

exercise bikes work well, i used to use one in the winter when running in the woods seemed a silly idea, get up, bike it,shower, out the door :)

try get a magnetic one, you have to spend at least £100 or more for a decent new one, but unlike a gym membership, you can always flog it

riding to work in london is a bad idea, i have heard from lots of folk who did this and got knocked off, some requiring plastic surgery to fix their face…
