Can anyone recommend a good ladies hairdresser in the city, near to Cannon Street preferably? I really, really need to get my barnet chopped. It’s becoming embarrassing now.

I’d still super-recommend Meg at ESHK near the bottom of Goswell road – nearest tubes Barbican / Old Street

There are loads of hairdressers posting on Gumtree to find models to do free haircuts on. I recently went to one in Soho where it took 2 hours to cut and finish my hair. It was done very well as the hairdresser already had a lot of experience but was doing some kind of interview test to work at the salon I think. It was checked constantly by a senior stylist and the end result was pretty good. I think it is a lot better than paying £40 for a rubbish hair cut anyway!

You can also get an appointment at Toni & Guy or Vidal Sassoon for a free haircut if you want an up & coming new design. It will take a few hours though…

I’ve had a freebie hair cut before and it was very good and super cheap, on the downside I was in the hairdresser for almost 3 hours. I just can’t face that this time.

Warning if you have curly hair none of the trainee hairdressers in T&G or Vidals will want to do you, it’s flashback time to when you were the last to be picked for netball or rounders at school and then you were only next to last because your mates took pity on you (or hey, was that just me? note to self: seek therapy…)

Actually, scrap my suggestion – my tired, tortured eyes read Cannon Street as Covent Garden. Anyone got any eyedrops?

Well I went to ESHK and had a very nice haircut courtesy of a funky japanese girl (no idea what her name is), I’m very pleased with the result (although she did cut it a bit too short for my liking!) and I’ll probably go back. Cheers, Archetype! x
