They seem to be broadcasting in the Beckton area and every morning on the A13 when the traffic information on my car stereo kicks in, all I can hear is some cock detective bellowing hysterically, “Yeah! Innit! Git dahn to tha sahnd! Yeah! Yeah!” with some poorly mixed rap/hip-hop banging in the background.
Has anyone else heard this and is it the most rubbish pirate station EVER?

I listen to good old Radio 1 when on the bus in various bits of East London, and I get a pirate station interfering every minute or two, just for a second or two. Not sure if it’s the same one as you, Brian.

Sounds like it could be, I sometimes listen to Radio 1 as well and get the interference. The most annoying thing is when I’ve got the iPod playing in the car and TI cuts in, means I have to switch it off and not get any traffic updates.

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR LISTENING TO CHRIS MOYLES!

B…but Carla, mostly it’s my iPod being interrupted! And I took your recommendation and bought the previous Arcade Fire CD! Have sympathy!

I’m just glad the pirates don’t yet interfere with digital (though I’m still mourning the loss of Phil Jupitus as a breakfast DJ)

Pirate digital radio, given time they’ll be there.
As for cut in in the Beckton area, yep it’s there alright, keep getting it when I’ve in the area. Plays havoc with my VHS radio mics. Although it’s not there all day, seems to go about 10am to 10:30 and come back about 4pm.
It’s not always on the same frequency either and quite wide so spreads all over the band.
Anyone know what the station is?

It’s not just Beckton. When I was in Clapham, Radio 4 would occasionally get huge blasts of crunk across it. Unless it was an Archers grime special.

“Archers grime special.”- why does this seem not wholly beyond the bounds of reality within the next few years?

Judging from your description I think they used to broadcast from the flat next door to me. It didn’t sound any better live. I can’t confirm its the same people though as, stangely enough, I never popped in to chat about broadcasting habits…
Although they would need to have found a new place if they’re still going as they’ve been removed now.
