Do you have any flute playing friends?

This is a very strange request, but does anyone know any flautists based in London?! We’ve just had a flute player drop out for the charity concert I’m playing in on Saturday, which has fairly serious implications and is causing wide reaching panic amongst the organisers!!

Here’s a few places to try, if you’ve not already seen them…

www.musofinder.co.uk
www.bandmix.co.uk
www.partysounds.co.uk
www.musiciansnews.com/musicians_wanted/
www.gig-guide.co.uk
www.musicians-web.co.uk

Also – gumtree, loot, craigslist etc

WhatNote is in many bands and does charity kind of things quite often, I’m sure if he doesn’t play the flute himself he would know someone who does.

Let me know if he doesn’t respond to a post on his profile page and i could get in touch with himfor you.

Good luck either way.

I know someone who’s very good at playing the skin flute – at least grade 8…

I know a few who play the jazz flute – but they’re all little fairy boys.

iSleep – answering in order: Sorta. No.

And if I could do maths I’d realise that “on Saturday” probably means Saturday gone so, uh, where’s the delete button ?

On an unrelated note (pun almost intended), how do you tag a reply like that hopeful doo-dah above ?

Ok, keep your eyes peeled for any suitable PG soundalikes out there.

I don’t think the delete button works, but you could try it (and make me look as if I’m talking to myself) – Edit your post (I think you can only do this within an hour of posting it), there’s a delete button somewhere on the edit dialog.

As for tags, there’s a box below where you’ll type your reply to a post, labelled “Tag this comment (optional)”. You can type in there to tag your comment. You don’t have to though! It’s optional.

Ok. Will do.

Thanks for the pointers.

No “Tag this comment (optional)” box anywhere around my reply box in IE6 or Firefox 2.0.0.7.

Just “Submit” button, “Add a location to this reply (optional)” link (in Firefox) and “Enable Live Preview” checkbox (in Firefox).

Darn it. I’ll stop now because I’m so off topic

How long have you been with us MarkE? I have a vague recollection that new people aren’t allowed to tag things until they’ve been with us for a probationary period. I’m not really sure why.

Maybe initially it was thought that if you were new, you might not get the tagging system and think that the idea was to put useful things in the tags so that conversations could be easily found. Whereas once you’ve been here for a while you’ll realise it’s an opportunity to mumble in an undertone, or put any old crap in there.

Which is amusing, but not so helpful when you’re trying to find a conversation using the search facility.
