I love love love Chinese food, szechuan, peking etc etc. Yet takeaways around these parts (Marylebone) always disappoint. Can anyone vouch for a decent chinese takeaway centrally? Id bite your prawn balls off?

Yes. A few.
Try “Hungs” (formerly “Crispy Duck”) on Whitcomb Street, for the best Singapore Noodles in town.
Try “Crispy Duck” on Gerrard Street, for good crispy duck, and a fine selection of bingo style dimsum at lunchtme.
Try “HK Diner” on Whitcomb Street for genuinely MSG-free chinese food. I recommend the “sam-sil-fan” in particular.
Try “Canton” on Newport Place for all-round value. It was one of the first chinese restaurants in London and is still going strong.

Bum Sum Yung Guy is quite good but the staff can be a bit arsey, then there’s One Hung Low or Hing Wan Oan Ye, or even How Hi the Chinaman or How Lo is his wife…order the creme of Sum Yung Guy from a place called Wing Tip Shoo its delicious

Can we have another thread like this one, please? There’s not nearly enough arguments on here nowadays…

That’s the problem with arguments about Chinese takeaways. You have one, and then a few hours later you just want to have another.

I don’t really like Chinese – or I only like the meals that are the worst for you like belly pork.
I have never tried dim sum though. To me they look like they would taste like stodgy boiled pastry. Am I wrong?

Mellie yes, you are. Like anything, its delicious if done well.
You should go here
Or even better, ask your other half to take you
