Any suggestions for a low-fat friendly restaurant?

Why is it, when every supermarket is making a killing on low-fatready meals, restaurants keep piling on the calories? Are there any restaurants in London serving low-fat food in a nice atmosphere? Health-food cafes are fine for lunch or a snack, but I’m looking for something more substantial to dine out on. I’m vegetarian, if that helps.

Ooh that was a good question. What a shame no one answered. I often need to eat out because I have to rather than because I want to. I’d prefer to eat something like I would have cooked at home which would probably include broccoli.

May I suggest Leon (the more restauranty branches in Covent Garden or Balckfriars) and I’d like to hear other suggestions for this but am guessing there isn’t really anywhere much out there.

Not eaten there myself, but Manna in Primrose Hill seems to come highly rated.

Small and Beautiful next to Brondesbury rail station – it isn’t low fat by default, but they have a fair few vegetarian options and use quite simple ingredients well.

I don’t think there will be too many restaurants marketing themselves on the health of their dishes though due to

a. dietary fads (I remember everywhere in the US was doing carb-free options a few years ago) and

b. low fat being associated with exercise being associated with hard work and not fun eating!

mildred’s is a good veggie restaurant. it’s not specifically low-fat but they do have healthy options

Maoz is possibly the best falafel place in the world ever and the salad they give you is literally the best salad you will ever have.
