Antique Tiara Shopping

A friend is getting married and she will be wearing a lovely antique, silver necklace. She now needs to find a tiara to complement said necklace but is having trouble finding anything that’s not new and shiny.

Any suggestions? We need antique-ish shops that won’t break the bank, markets that sell such things or websites that could help.

5ks for the best answer.

I’ve never particularly been in the market for tiaras I have to say, but Camden Passage in Islington would be a good place to start I think. There are various vintage/antique jewellery shops in that row (like Eclectica) or nearby.

There also used to be a big and lovely jewellery market in Camden Passage every Saturday morning, with all sorts of stuff – lots vintage. I can’t find any listings for it online but my old housemate and I went there to trawl for our stolen jewellery after we were burgled a few years ago. We didn’t find it but she bought some lovely antique earrings…

Might be worth trying Butler and Wilson on South Molton Street as they may do some designs that aren’t solely targeted at big scottish drag queens with a crystal meth habit like my mate Malcolm.

Now why couldn’t that be the theme of your friend’s wedding…

How about commissioning one, there are plenty of crafty types that will make something unique for a reasonable price. I am unable to offer any names or contacts…...just a suggestion…..sorry.
