Your humble Devil has been known to engage in amateur dramatics in various roles – acting, directing, producing, teching, that sort of rubbish. Despite having been involved in hundreds – quite literally; no, really – of shows over my ten years in Edinburgh and having vowed to just leave it the fuck alone for a while, I am experiencing a mild hankering for for the smell of greasepaint and the -loose virtues of actresses- glare of the lights.
So, anyone know of any such groups within easy travel of Brixton (before anyone says anything, Brixton’s actually quite easy to get away from. For reasons that may be obvious…)?

The Chelsea Players seem to be a well organised amateur bunch. They seem to be one step up from your normal amdram company. But then, what do I know?

Cheers for the reply: I’ll check ‘em out…
Fucking hell! I would like to point out that this is an entirely different Chris Mounsey...

Try the South London theatre in West Norwood (a short hop from Brixton on the no. 2 bus). The productions I’ve been to have been great, and you can get involved in whatever capacity you’re interested in, plus members can drink in the super-cheap bar.
