Alright, who's sunburned?

It’s surely wrong, wrong, wrong that in mid-April I’ve been wandering around in vest top and flip-flops, and running out to greet the ice cream van when it tootles down my road. And now I discover that I’m a bit pink around the face and chest (nothing to get excited about; more the clavicle area!). Anyone else been caught unawares after a nap/beer in the sun?

Nope. I’ve learnt my lesson and as soon as there is any hint of sun I smother myself in factor 30.

Have managed to stencil my side parting onto my forehead. Brilliant.

Kudos for being very sensible, Babb! And for doing what I didn’t… doh.

Being a redhead, I try to stay inside for my beer drinking and have therefore avoided sunburn so far this year. It will happen at some point, though, that’s guaranteed. I am stupid.

Not me,

Mainly as I’ve been in Scotland the last few days.

And it’s freezing there.

I take a perverse pleasure in the mild pain associated with a modicum of sunburn. It is physical proof that we have warm sunny days.

I am also developing definite sandal lines.

Anyone who doesn’t put suncream on when the sun is beating down should be battered about the head with a splintery stick with rusty nails in the end until they do.

Quite frankly.

Just back from my jaunt in Spain, rained for the first five days then dried out for the final two so got a little bit of a tan, possibly as I tan quite easily (and keep it). Once back in the UK, I was working in my garden and got even more tanned, so my arms and hands, the only bits exposed, are a lot darker than usual.

Beagleskin, I did use suncream, honest, I just missed that bit…

Wanders off to pick bits of wood out of hair…

I’m lightly toasted, and that was from watching the marathon in Greenwich on Sunday. Spent the rest of the day sunbathing on Wandsworth Common and working my way through the sunday papers.

Those poor runners – they are better people than I for getting round in that heat!

I was wandering about a bit on Sunday and am now a bit pink.

This is unusual as it usually takes me about 6 weeks to go pale blue.

I fell asleep on Primrose Hill last weekend and woke up with a rather red face. I was hungover though – so that’s my excuse! I have crap skin though (having fairly auburn hair) – I’d get burnt simply sitting near a lightbulb…

Nope, my central-American tan is nicely topped up though. Heh.

In my teenage years in Bournemouth we became adept at sunburn silhouettes; placing hands on chests (your own or someone else’s), or cutting out letters to form naughty words. Crazy, we were.

Having been virtually born on the beach I tan very easily and am old enough not to have to worry too much about skin cancer. Or the Big R as us dyslexics call it.
